If they don't want to go, that's absolutely fine. They sound perfectly sensible enough to make up their own minds. I'd tell people that it was their choice, and therefore not up for discussion.

Best wishes to you all, Penny. xx
I totally agree , only saw your post after i'd posted Pam.I didn't got to a few of my relly's funerals when I was younger, no regrets at all as I wanted to remember them as they were xxx:o

    Morning everyone!

Yesterday I spent the morning at the local fire station, it was a nursery trip (tough life for a parent eh?:p ) The kids (and mums) had a great time, watched a couple of fire videos, saw them slide down the pole and their equipment and then the kids were allowed to site in the engine and use the fire hose!!:D Great fun!! My DD was scared and didnt want to have a go! and I resisted of course!:rotfl:

DD was up so early yesterday 5.15:eek: that I fell asleep last nite in the middle of Chelsea Flower Show and missed Waking the Dead!! This years "Colour" is apparently "Green"!

Off to the gym this morning with DH - who has a gym induction (again) as the first one wasnt very good, so have booked him in with the guy who done mine.

Roast Chicken for dinner tonite, haven't cooked one in ages as I've been using up stuff in the freezer!

Electric man has just been and read the meter - so another Bill arriving:o

THe Dance teacher has set a date (4th June) for the start of the Adult Tap Class - I'm really looking forward to it - need to get some shoes now!:T

Suns out - so get that washing out CM!!;)

MrsMix - yes I agree, if they don't want to go - I wouldn't force them - some adults don't go to funerals because they don't like them.
DLB - well done on the weight loss! & Charlies mum - dont put yourself down, you've still done really well:T

Mrs Mix, if your children don't want to go the funeral, that's fine. I hate funerals and where possible, make my excuses and don't attend. I know some people find them comforting, but I don't, and want to remember the deceased in happier times.

Tell your relative that your children are old enough to make up their own minds.

Lots of hugs to you, I lost my Dad two years ago, and remember how difficult it all was xx

    Good Morning All

Another broken nights sleep here! Must look into buying some black out blinds!

DS at the dr's tonight! Nothing to major to worry about!
DD has moved up another level in Judo!

WM on, hope it finishes before work so I can peg it out!

mrs mix - I agree with you, you dont have to force the children into anything. Mine had the chance last year to go to their grandad's funeral, but opted not to, so we had our own little ceremony in the garden, played his favorite song and read poems!

dlb - brilliant weight loss! have fun on sat! Sorry I wont be around to help! But do pump up the volume to wind witch up!!!!

    Hope everyone else is well
    Take care

    Morning all!

    day off today!:j

    Catowen :hello:

    Chalky and Anniestar:hello::hello:

dlb - well done on the weight loss:T

charlie's_mum - good luck at SW!

Donny_Gal - hope the mammogram goes ok and also that your DH is ok x

Aussie - glad you got your test results eventually! at least you can do something about them now. By the way hows your sis?

Metherer - sorry about the job

Shez - great news about the tap class! we can compare notes!

Mrs_Mix - I agree with the others, your kids are able to choose for themselves what to do and should not be made to go. My 2 went to school when it was my Dad's funeral but came to a small service when we buried his ashes in the family grave - nowhere near so upsetting for them as the funeral.

Got a mega pile of ironing to do this morning then am off into town for coffee with mum, later have a cleaning job to do (extra cash) and DH and I need to do some recycling at the skip.

Hope this sun holds out! might find 5 mins to spend in the garden with my book!;)

    take care all x

    Morning all,
Lovely day here so far, bright and sunny.
BM on - DD came round and asked if i would do her and BF a loaf so its on already.
Had to get up and get on early as the gas board are replacing the meter outside and someone needs to be in  .

Mrs-mix - I totally agree with letting the children make up their own mind, like charlies_mum i dont like funerals either and would prefer to remember people in my own way, if the children have a favourite photo of their GD then maybe thats how they picture them to be IYSWIM or maybe make some kind of card that can be placed with the flowers/coffin.

Arkonite babe - I had trouble with stitches in my belly button when i was sterilised last December, GP gave me some anti biotic ointment to put on it, no probs after that.

Oh yes forgot to say, the biker friend decided on green hair and beard.

Morning all, sunny day here so DH and I are going to erect a fence so that DD's 2 labs will have an enclosed run. We put a shed up for them a couple of weeks ago. Have to level out 2 tons of soil that was dug out to lay a patio then lay some turf down. Perfect weather for it. Put bedroom on hold as it's to nice to be indoors.
(((((((((( hugs to lots of you in need))))))))))))))) and congrats to others deserving them. Will catch up on yesterdays thread now.
Hope you all have a happy day.

    Morning all

Mrs Mix - I agree with everyone else - your children sound old enough and more to the point senisble enough to make up their own minds. wether they attend or not is noone else business but yours and theirs

special hugs for pen-pin - i think it's today thatshe has her op

well I have phoned work and school to tell them that we'll be late - dd's hand looks quite horrid this morning. She came home from school with a wodge of cotton wool wound round with sellotape - goodness me can't they stretch to a proper dressing. I dressed it last night but don't have a fresh bandage so will stock up and get the pharmacist to take a look - the blisters are still intact but looking a bit red around the edges - oh sorry if you're eating breakfast :)

dd(22) is still keeping me in suspenders about the possible pregnancy but has at least told me that she might be
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Morning all,

Already been to see Vampira the nurse so that's out of the way, thank goodness. Have an appointment at 10 for a b/p check and weight check then the rest of the day is mine.

aussie, sounds like you are falling to bits, poor love. Seriously though, now that you have your diagnoses you can start the treatments and should notice improvements fairly quickly.
mrs mix I agree with everyone else - don't let a distant relative sway your decision.
arkonite babe hope you get the stitches sorted out.
dlb well done on your weight loss, you are doing fab. I have lost 1st 10lbs so far. Its a steady weight loss but I would be happier if it could just be a little bit more each week. :D
donny-gal hope the mammogram goes well.
Pen-Pin I know you won't be reading this but just want to send you ((hugs)) today.
(((hugs))) to everyone who needs one.

I need to take a Governor's report to school today so will do that after my appointment. Then I'm going to Homebase as I want to decorate the bathroom but have some black condensation spots on the ceiling and want to use that spray that stops the marks from coming through when you paint.

Will need to do some baking so that DD can take her classmates some goodies for her birthday (her b/day is next week but its half-term so she will do something on Friday).

Oooh, must raid the freezer as I have no idea what I will be cooking for dinner tonight. Must go and do that while I remember.

    Have a tremendous Tuesday. xx

PAM - I can only echo what everyone else here has said - it's entirely up to your children if they want to attend the funeral and no-one else should even be thinking of interfering with what is a personal decision.

STEF - hope DD's hand is not too bad, poor thing.

METHERER - so sorry about the job.

Well, I've just finished all the boring chores and the kitchen floor is drying nicely. I'm just off to the newly-revamped charity shop in the village and then off to the gym so I'll catch you all later.
