in the past (probably5-10)years ago i was naughty and didnt repay credit cards loans etc.probably got defaults,ccjs etc but recently applied for a vanquis card lo and behold £250 credit limt,next£200 limit littlewoods £400
jd williams £125
so feeling pretty good with myself thought id try barclaycard but when i applied on line it gave me the message we will look into it type of answer
that was over 3 weeks ago and still no letter,e-mail or any reply
can anyone shed any light onto this,should i just forget it ,have i been rejected,could there be 1 in the post

got rejected by argos,m+s and a couple of others
and also how much damage is caused by going over credit limits

can anyone help please

i appiled a few months ago and never heard anything either give them a tinkle and ask them what's going on, you may of been declined but if you ring them you will know then.

Ok, first things first, do you have an up to date credit report from Experian and Equifax to see exactly what nasties there are on your files. If you can get your hands on one of these (free 30 day trial online), then we can see what the state of play is and take it from there. If all your naughty stuff is over 6 years old then it won't show and won't have an effect.

RE the Barclaycard, normally people hear after a week or so, it might be worth giving them a call?

Check you credit reports and then come back to us and let us know what's on them and we'll take it from there.

This thread is the least "in crowd" thread on here lol - all contributions happily received (I hope Mr P doesn't mind me saying )

not sure about you bc application going over limit is bad for your score very bad and lots of searches damage your score too!!

See, I don't agree with this . Yes, if you are continually over your limit then you'll get a load of charges and that's not good, but I've gone over my Halifax limit a few times and I get the £12 charge and I pay as soon as I realise, but it has never had a negative impact on my credit account on Experian and Equifax. Still a nice big fat green zero

yes i agree with you there sammy but if you dont pay and keep it overlimit it will start reporting 1's 2's 3's and then the big bad 8 if you know what i mean!!
