Hello and welcome, if you want a bank account with a debit card, try Lloyds TSB, they do a basic account with a Visa debit card, no overdraft or cheque book but it is better than what you have, and they report account conduct to all three credit reference agencies.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Just out of interest has anyone got a store card run by GE Capital my Burtons Menswear card is? What sort of limit did you get and are they reporting on your credit file.
My wife has a Monsoon card with £750 limit, and House of Fraser with £750 limit, Dorothy Perkins (now closed) had a £2000 limit. All are run by GE Capital and all reported on Equifax and Experian.0 -

Hi Toomuchdebt,
It's a while since I've replied to any of your posts.:D
Have you managed to get a credit card yet?
I'm determined to have one by the end of this year, but it's taking ages to get our CRF's cleaned up, and I had to resort to the ICO to get five of our ex creditors to update the files.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

It is good that people can express what they are thinking on subjects via a forum like this where they may otherwise feel embarrassed talking about stuff like wanting a credit card to build up their credit, getting exited about a credit card arriving through the letter box, getting the bug for blanket-applying for credit products, feeling a sense of achievement about the green [0]'s building up on their credit file's etc etc, people are just people at the end of the day and it is human nature to long for things that we don’t have, the sense of achievement and responsibility that comes from having a credit card in your pocket, feeling "normal", credit cards are very useful financial tools for everybody, some people criticise them and say "you should save up for things and buy them" etc, well I strongly disagree with that mind set, you only get one shot at life and you don't know what is around the corner, so you could save up for a few years for something, then suddenly get killed or seriously injured and never get the chance to enjoy it, I know this may be an odd way of putting my point across but it was the best analogy that I could come up with at short notice. Credit is a useful tool for everybody and although it is a privilege and not a right, everybody deserves a chance to start again or just simply enter the world of finance, at the end of the day companies like Capital One, Vanquis, Monument and Aqua all provide a vital and unbiased service to help people get back to "normality", we can't criticise them really and even if you get knocked back a couple of times by the above mentioned, just hold out because they will help you, I have been rejected by all of the above mentioned credit cards and accepted by them too, so as a final thought keep the post's coming and a big thank you for everybody’s honesty and stories that have been posted so far.
There are so many great things in that post that I couldn't have put better myself. Thanks, Proliant! It's so interesting hearing about everybody's adventures on this thread. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
