Just thinking about when I come to the end of my sub prime journey which I think is still a good 18 months away which is when my Bankruptcy order drops off my file forever along with the other bad stuff.

Was serious about jumping back into the housing market next year but I’m going to hold fire for now till until my BRO has gone from my file and the housing market has settled .I think getting a mortgage now with a sub-prime lender with decent rate would be hard work. So best bet is wait it out and try the more mainstream lender’s in 2010 (See Darcy your not the only one who has to play the waiting game).

Will probably only keep my Cap1 one card out of the three I hold at present, close the other two and try my luck with my new super clean and super positive file with a more regular lender like Egg.

The catalogues will definitely go as will my Burton’s Menswear store card as they are there just to do a Job for the moment.

I’ll renew my mobile contract to see me out till the end of my 18 month wait, but will probably continue with it as it worked out cheaper for me than my PAYG. Seeing I only got it to add a positive account on my CRF worked out quite well.

Forgive my rambling’s tonight there’s nothing decent on Telly.

darcy, I do know how you feel, honestly I do. I have had nothing but the catalogue reporting on my file for 18 months now. About 9 months ago I applied for a vanquis card and was told to take a hike. So, I just did nothing other than keep the catalogue running with its 250 limit. Suddenly they upped the credit to £550 so I went about making the applications for the cards and all were accepted. it really is just a matter of time.

Of course, now I have another 18 months or so of running these cards before I can ditch them and move on. It's all a pain, I don't even want the credit, I just want to move closer to the prime stuff for stoozing and mortgage reasons. It is all a slow process I agree.

My defaults were all paid off in january of 2007 and that seems like an eternity ago. But we will all get there in the end. Just keep plodding along.

  • Hang in there Darcy. I think I lucked out with my two cards, as I can't get a full bank account and I can't get accepted for a catalogue or anything. I truly think it is the luck of the draw.

    Hi Sad Welcome

I’d give Cap 1 one a ring as there probably trying to confirm your address as the proofs they ask for should all bear your current address were a passport does not.

See if they will accept something else like a recent bank statement, council tax bill or a Tenancy Agreement as these will have your address worth a try any way.

Vanquis from first applying to acceptance for me was about 5 working days and then getting my card took about 10 working days again. I’d give them a call to see whats happening.

Thanks for your reply Whamy! The Capital One letter had two lists! List A and List B. List B was things like utility bills or bank statements but List A was was the one where I was having the ID problem and you HAD to have something from List A!! Just fed up I guess cause a current passport is not on their accepted list!

Just out of interest for those people who cannot get a card. Does anyone know if there is a better time of the month to apply? Ie end of the month if sales are too low to hit targets or beginning of the month when sales start again?
