    Afternoon
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Yes, I can see why you've drawn that conclusion. There's a definite lack of morningness going on it has to be said:D

  • A lot of people consider them to be pretend cards because they're not really a credit card, they're a debit card in fancy dress:)

No offence meant, as I know they're a tool, but they're usually branded as pre-paid and they make some people feel like a small child who's been told they can't play with the big boys and girls. The other sub-prime cards are at least 'proper' credit cards:)

On a personal level, I would probably not use a pre-paid card as I am fortunate enough to be able to obtain other cards.

    Hi Danny,
Not sure why you refer to a prepaid card as a "pretend" prepaid card? and erm...what do you mean by a "proper" card.

Its almost like you view prepaid cards as some sort of scam. Visit our FAQ section to find out more about these "pretend" cards. Just kidding.

Prepaid cards are not for everyone, but they do a lot of good for the subprime market where people find it difficult to get another card. So if someones got a CCJ or cannot get a credit or debit card, a prepaid card is a lifesaver and a prepaid card look absolutely no different from a credit or debit card.

If we have managed to convert you with our FAQ section, find the card that suits you best at Prepaid365 ;)

    Have a nice day
    Hi,
Sorry what I mean't was the 99% of the Pre-Paid cards look like Pre-Paid cards, some are flat with 'Electronic use only' on them, or are branded in such a way that they simply do not look the part (So to speak), some are not chip and Pin, and some are cards that can be picked up from garages that don't even have your name on them !.

Most (If not all) cannot be used for Car Hire, Cannot be used at Pay at the Pump, and also cannot be used in situations where the merchant cannot go online, so no manual zip zap machines (Yes it happend to me in Morrisons when their electronic terminals went down !), very few have 24hr 7 days a week customer service if you get stuck, so while I think you are correct in what you say a lot of people do view them as not a 100% credit card.

P.s Forgot to mention that only one (I think) would actually cover you under the 1974 consumer act, so if the supplier had gone out of business or you obtained faulty goods you could not get your money back.
  • I'll stick with a debit card and a real credit card thanks:) A debit card is easier to use and less hassle than a pre-paid 'credit' card.

from what i have read pre-paid credit cars are only good for those who cannot get either a debit or credit card through bancrupcy etc... i personally cannot see any advantage if you have a debit card. if they cant be used for car hire etc... what is the point?

I have a prepaid card and use it to book on the trainline and also virgin trains as they don't accept electron or solo cards.
If I could get a proper credit card it'd be great so have to use this card for certain transactions.
