rebuilding_credit wrote: »Hi everyone this thread is great,
My finances hit a massive low 3 years ago when i became very ill and couldnt work and i got 14 defaults and 2 ccjs ever since even though im back at work no one would give me anything i tried them all cap1, vanquis, aqua, monument, catalogues everyone declined me flat, then i got a halifax basic bank account 2 years ago and in april they upgraded me to a normal current account with a £100 overdraft it was like chistmas I have never been so excited finally a chance to prove i am now sensible and improve my credit rating, unfortunately being an idiot i got carried away and applied to all the subprimers for a card so i can rebuild my rating only to have them all turn me down again, now I have an even lower score,
BUT suprise, suprise I opened a CREDIT AGREEMENT from cap 1 today which i signed and sent straight back I can now finally get back on track, I will make my payments and not do any more searches im so excited i had to share it with you all,
now ive given you my life story i will ask my question,
whats the difference between the cap1 classic card and the others because I applied for one with a monkey on it and disapointingly im getting the plain blue one( well not disapointingly im still very happy), i was just hoping someone could tell me?

Just to let you know, after just 2 months Aqua have written to OH and have upped his credit limit by £500, so it is now £1500.
He only got the account in April so it is a quickish increase!

Hello GillzD and welcome, a credit score can take a while to increase, if you dont miss payments and show that you are actively dealing with and problems and don't have too many credit searches on your file, you should see a dramatic improvement in around 12 months, but factors like not being om the electroal register and CCJ's Deafults etc will have a negative impact on your credit score, try Capital One, Vanquis, Aqua or Monument as they may be able to help you.
thanks but we tried them earlier this year and they said no! this was before we knew that each application took points off! didnt help we went to the bank for talk about our finances and she did 4 loan applications one after the other!0 -

halifax we are no longer with them paying off the overdraft and cc with dmp they told us when we told them out money problems (we knew we would have problems a few months before) they told us just to stop paying everything and wait till it all went to debt collectors them make arrangements to pay a reduced amount as they couldnt. more like couldnt be bothered our own fault for being a bit stupid but didnt count on a drop of income either!0
