Ahhhhggggg I'm so angry
Champagne Heidsieck & Co. Monopole "Blue Top" Brut
Label on shelf saying £13.99 but scanned at £18.99 small print on label said offer ended on 18th October.
Manager called who said "no way" because it clearly said offer had ended so I called HO who said they were happy with the maagers line on the matter. Asked to talk to Duty Manager who said she was also happy with everthing that had been said. Demanded to talk to her manager but she said nobody above her would talk to and passed me to another duty manager he also back up everyone else saying it was not a misprice as the end date (6 days ago) was no the ticket.
Refunded the lot and left the Champagne saying I would be in touch with trading Standards.
Only up side is all the club points, the petrol voucher, the schools vouchers and they forgot to take off the 10% discount (6 bottle discount) so they refunded more than I paid by 10%
I'm just so angry right now.0 -

I can understand you're cross. But hey, think of the schools that will benefit from the vouchers! Looks to me like this is another store level decision. It says nowhere on the policy on the website that if the SEL hasn't been removed at the end of a special offer, that it doesn't qualify for R + R. But then, it doesn't say they won't either. I think there was a debate a little further back on the thread re this matter.
I don't know the trading standards position on it, but I know others will! I guess it comes down to whether the price alone is legally binding, or the date with the price is the bottom line.
I think the SEL for my free travel insurance had a teeny tiny end of offer date which could have been read with a microscope, but all the 20% off signs were still up, and all the other 20% off SELs on the other insurance products, so it was blatent laziness in the store as none of the promotional stuff had come down 5 days after the end of the offer and I needed to get the insurance anyway. Nothing at all was said about an end date on the SEL then, and the price of the product was more than your champers.
Maybe this is their way of tightening up the policy?Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Because the only price displayed was £13.99 and the end date is so tiny they can't reasonably expect people to go around the store checking if an offer is still running or not. I dont think many people would go up to each offer and check the end date just in case Tesco have not done their job and removed old SEL's.0 -
Hmmm....this is getting a bit silly, with people feeling indignant and like they have been ripped off when they don't get away with exploiting this policy.
As you said, you have made some small profit from tesco today..why are you angry!?Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
I've been away for the weekend and only just noticed the pc price error, but I note with interest it appears to have been pulled nationally as a result of r&r, call me a cynic but the beef is still available all over the place! Could it be that they know they will sell thousands of packs of beef for every r&r but only a handfull of pc's in comparison and therefore not so commercially viable to ignore the pc overprice thus the expediency in getting it resolved!!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Thanks bylromarha.
Your right its so tiny you can't see it and the £13.99 was huge in red and yellow..0 -

If the pos is there it is perfectly reasonable of the consumer to expect it to apply regardless of whether or not an end date is displayed. The pos is there to affect your buying decision and if it does and you don't get the resultant benefit then you have been misled, it is not the responsibility of the consumer to ensure that a supplier rotates their stock or promotions correctly but the supplier. r&r should have applied in the above example with the champagne!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

I think it boils down to the fact that it is a nationally advertised policy that makes customers feel secure, thus more likely to shop in Tesco.
When someone in store tells you that the policy doesn't apply in such and such an instance due to a date, when it has never been mentioned on previous cases, it makes you cross that they are amending the rules to suit them. The policy is for genuine overcharges, but why is an overcharged pc different to an overcharged pack of value peppers? And are 10 items overcharged different to 1 item overcharged?
Personally, I have stopped buying things I know will be free just for the sake of getting them free, unless they were on my shopping list anyway. That's me. I know others are different.
We all have different levels of acceptability on this policy and one persons exploitation is well within the comfort zone for another. I know where my comfort zone is, you know where yours is, other people who have a different comfort zone to you won't listen as they believe they're in the right too! Fun and games, eh?!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
