Alias_Omega wrote:Whats the limit on what we can get tho..
For example, say i pick up a bottle of JD and its price is wrong on the till. I would get if for free.
Say if i turn up with 15 bottles of JD, will i get them all for free.? Whats the limit, how far can you go, does this cover goods like TV's where they are worth more, surely your limit is to how many u can buy.?
So if i goto the shop, but something and its more expensive / cheaper i get it for free.?

Are you talking about Asda or tesco?
Don't know about Asda, but tesco certainly will give you dosh back for at least one product that is cheaper on the shelf than price on the till. I say at least one because of Tesco's bulk buying policy which varies from store to store. Some stores, if you buy more than 2 of the same product, it is considered a bulk buy.
As for the price limit, Tesco honoured this policy for my £100+ travel insurance that was cheaper on the shelf than the price I paid at the till.
And as for the Asda v Tesco debate. Nothing will make me do my weekly shop in Asda because their own brand goods just don't taste nice IMO. And also, the store is full of Asdites...this is a term my OH and I use for the majority of people who shop in Asda...eg one Asdite moaned at me when I pushed his trolley that blocked the width of the aisle...I'd already said excuse me three times. lots more examples to be had of the Asdites.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Bit of a sweeping statement about Asdites, but I know what you mean. It can't be everyone who shops there is rude though can it? I go sometimes and I don't even push to get near to the reduced cabinet!
I've a feeling some areas are much worse than others, can't imagine Asda in the depths of Surrey being full of Neanderthals.0 -
Whilst I have always found the personel at Asda's helpful and most importantly informed, the problem with me shopping there is one of quality, unfortunately their fresh produce is seldom that and their meat is always suspect, when in Asda for "reduced to clear" in relation to meat translate to "not fit for human consumption"Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

The standard of food in Asda is probably not as good as Tesco but I have used them in recent months because I was allowed to pay most of the bill in vouchers. Unfortunately, yesterday I was told they would only accept one third of the bill in vouchers, this may well be a local initiative, but I will be switching my allegiance to Tesco where a combination of vouchers and misprice returns will usually result in a net profit.

Does anyone know if Tesco accept Somerfield vouchers? If so has anyone used them like "joeys" (i have just picked up the in store Somerfield free mag with £7 of wine vouchers in)

If they need more staff to do the job properly, hire some more !
And get the process sorted it is not rocket science !!
They are not short of cash !!
I'm afraid in the world of business, nothing is ever as simple as "just hire more staff".
More staff mean increased costs, which could mean higher prices or lower dividend to shareholders. This is not just Tesco I'm refering to, but business in general.0 -

ben500 wrote:And just to highlight the fact they value their security personal far highly than their hygeine personal or shelf replenishers now I don't know about the rest of you but I see a significant flaw there! It's not like the security staff are IQ tested before they sign them up, so long as they can remember their own name and not too many of their tatoo's are showing their in! They give them high tech toys to play with but they spend all day playing pacman on their mobiles waiting for the manager to call them to turf out some menacing mother with a couple of kids in tow for daring to answer back or insisting on policy being observed. Then they trot off home and tell the missus how they kung fu kicked this flick knife wielding drug crazed aids ridden handbag snatcher after chasing him for seven miles "because the police are useless and don't know how to deal with real crooks" "it's just me and the boys between heaven and anarchy honey"
too much brandy tonight!
What an absolute load of rubbish. You've just managed to insult every security guard Tesco employ, just becaise you have biased views of one or two of them.
For the record, Tesco do not employ security staff, they pay an outside company to provide them. Therefore your argument that shelfpackers are not valued is rubbish, since they get a whole raft of benefits which the security guards do not.0 -
As this is becoming a bit of a Tesco v Asda discussion, perhaps I can share my experience.
Asda is undoubtedly the cheaper overall, and always has been. My view is that their own brands are generally better than Tesco, with a few exceptions. Tesco have always been more prone to overcharge for as long as I can remember. (Trading Standards staff are aware of this, of course, but loath to tackle a big corporation.) Asda have vastly improved of late, although I can still get enough £2's on my gift card to pay for my cases of Xmas booze!
There is a huge variation in the service given in the shops, largely dependent on location. My local Tesco is between Sutton Coldfield and Kingstanding, so the mix of clientele is pretty extreme. Likewise the Asda is between Sutton and Castle Vale. It must be borne in mind that the shops recruit locally and this has a huge effect. For instance, we have 2 Sainsbury branches. The Mere Green one is efficiently run, with polite staff, and rarely is there a problem. Castle Vale branch, however, is frequently a shambles and overcharges very common. Taalking to the manager at CV, he admits that they have huge recruitment problems in that area. Generally the staff they get have poor education, are younger, couldn't care less, and there is a huge percentage turnover. This means poorly trained staff and lower standards.
It does seem to me that of the big three, Tesco are streets behind in staff training, as invariably both their knowledge and attitude are lacking. But with all these freebies, who cares? I only ever use Tesco for freebie trawls anyway.0 -
Don't know if this is the correct thread to post this or not - after reading all the posts about tesco misprices I decided to go yesterday. I generally shop in asda as tesco is quite out of my way,but as there was a possibility of bargains, i decided to travel.
However, having memorised the cjackson list and trawling the store for a couple of hours i couldn't find one single misprice. Everything was correctly priced. Although i did notice a member of staff frantically putting 'special buy' stickers over some of the package weights to make them the correct price (maybe). I think tesco management have been reading this thread.
By the way, the one i went to was the extra store on dragonville ind estate, durham.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
