Perhaps Ben could organise a national tour in a coach, suitably decorated of course.
Stopping off at Tesco's up and down the country - and using their carpark to BBQ a selection of mis-priced meat, and knock back his Brandy whilst signing autographs and giving MSE's lessons?0 -

'It's Super Smashing Great !!!!!!' as Jim Bowen of Bullseye fame would say ' keep out of the black and into the red you get nothing in this game for two in the bed'.
I love a good argument especially when I know I'm going to win !! and get some freebies aswell.0 -
ben500 wrote:There you go again Wallace I never said anything about Tesco hiring security personel I am fully aware of how they source their security personel and need no lessons from you thank you very much as for my views how do you know they are based on one or two individuals, did you ask the question? no you didn't so don't provide the answer yourself! As for my argument for shelf replenishers not being valued how on earth does it become affected by your assumations? I stand by what I say and as for rubbishing the security at Tesco I did it because they are deserving of it in general in Tesco and in the industry in general and my references to shelf replenishers is not based on the rewards they get but the recognition and respect they get from Tesco as a company.
Do me a favour and find someone else to attribute your drivel to and not me I can think for myself I don't need you to misinterpret my posts for me
Argh, so now you are insulting the whole security industry in general! Any particular reason for this, or just because you feel like it?
Perhaps you would also like to back-up your claim that Tesco do not give recognition or respect to their shelf-packers? The night team at my local branch are very friendly and cheerful - not what you would expect from people who are not respected or recognised!
One last point - if you made better use of punctuation in your posts, it might make them easier to be read in the way you intended.0 -
Hmm, I don't think attacking someone's punctuation is entirely constructive.
Please do everyone here a favour and argue the points made and remember in most cases they are simply one person's opinion...and we're all entitled to those.
As for the whole staff/security guard issue, well I'm sure Ben500's comments were a personal opinion based on her own experience and some of the horror stories posted on this very site. I very much doubt she intended to insult anyone. To suggest otherwise is just encoraging flaming and that is pointless. However, I understand just how easy it is to get involved in this kind of thing without realising it.
No offence is intended to anyone.0 -
Heres a tip for Jude, for when you go to CS, look on it as acting  , get into the role of innocent shopper  your alter ego and act your way to a Tesco Oscar [free goodies] :j . It also helps to remember that old hams tip of how to overcome nerves when facing CS and Managers just imagine them in their underwear, but not recommended if you are prone to corpsing [giggling]

I do all that - quite confident to start with, but when I meet any resistance i don't seem to handle it very well. Hope everyone else continues though, the more experiences I read about, the more annoyed I get!0 -

If you get nervous talking to them its fairly simple, just keep chat to a minimum by pointing to the sign and saying 'don't you know what the policy is'0 -
You could always try telling them your a reporter from the local rag following up for a story after complaints from thousands and thousands of customers :rotfl:Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Had £31.10 refund today but only after the cs woman ran off with my goods and came back 20 mins later with what turned out to be a stock control manager, they could'nt even read the shelf tickets properly and told me i had only been overcharged on 1 item and that i had been undercharged for the rest,i soon put them right and manager ran off to do more checking "I don't know how you have the time to check shelf labels"said the cs girl, duh.Manager came back with more labels and after more cross checking said to the cs girl refund him, "the rib of beef as well" she replied (£10.27 worth,1p a kilo overpriced and i had one last monday at this store) "Oh no"he said that's underpriced, "no it's not" i said "it's over by 1p a kilo"
"oh just refund the lot " he said with a raised voice to cs girl and stormed off,he came back after about 10 seconds telling cs girl to take my details,i asked him why and he said standard practice,i said not at other stores but he still insisted and walked off.
When i asked cs girl for his full name and position they said they never gave out surnames, anyway i was a bit wound up and was ready to e-mail tesco hq with a complaint about this manager, but i have cooled down a bit now and i have decided to hit that store big time when we next pass there in a couple of weeks,i hope the scanners work cos i'll be after cd's and dvd's for xmas and as i've given them two warnings if they have'nt corrected the rib of beef by then i'll pick the lot up!!0 -
Why should people feel embarrassed or guilty when returning the goods for refund? You are in the right, and you are using the policy that they chose to display. Perhaps it is the years of practice I have had, but I never feel intimidated by a shop manager. I ensure that I am the one asking the questions and leading the conversation, and I never, ever give in to them. Having said that, I never raise my voice or lose my rag. I just keep upping the stakes. Please don't let these people intimidate you or fob you off.
Whenever I have been refused by a manager (the last time being on internet coupons in Tesco) I have simply returned home and contacted their head office. That way you get what you are entitled to plus a £5 voucher!
By the way, Ben. I'm with you on the issue of security staff. You should see them in this area. The words "Peanuts" & "Monkeys" come to mind! Especially in Sainsburys.0
