ColinG wrote:When my wife and I found out about the Tesco policy we made the extra effort to look for items that had a significant change or variation in price, and for a while it did us some good. However, my wife came back home after a visit to Tesco's to inform me that she had been stopped outside the store and spoken to by the manager for "taking liberties". He then accused her of buying way more products than we have ever, accused her of buying for Trade again which we have never, and generally embarassed her outside the store. At no point did he tell her she had the option to go into a private area, just merely carried on "telling her off" outside the busy store.
Warning to Tesco's if you want to advertise your policy don't be surprised if people actually benefit from it.
I realise that others have responded but I have not been to computer for a couple of days and just wanted to add support. I do hope your wife returns and has R&Rs to emphasise the point.
I found your account shocking.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Been on phone to Head of CS HQ today, following earlier conversations with his CS reps, regarding matter of other night. Came away satisfied that the store had been told the error of there ways, after a lengthy debate regarding various areas of consumer law. Anyway the upshot of it is that the store has had a kick up the backside, and also those members of staff have also had a kick up the backside aswell. If I had been prepared to give my personal details I'd have got a formal letter of apology, but was not prepared to give them these details, I'd rather remain an anonymous thorn in their side.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

Let me know the next time you expect to pay a visit to Beckton :-)
I've sent my third and fourth e-mails to HO about the Beckton Store, and they have replied in the same way - basically, return to the store, "who will sort out the problem"!
That smells about as good as the air outside the Beckton store!!
They tell me that the store manager has been informed, but I still don't think that they'll do anything different, other than gather and stare.
Go on, stare you mighty gathers, you!0 -
Can anyone tell answer this?
Do Tescos use a national database for their prices. I can't work how things can scan at different prices by region.0 -

My theory is that prices are downloaded from a central database, but can be altered on a store-by-store basis. I was told by a CS person that the employees can't be held accountable because the prices all come from H.O.0
