Had a rather extensive discussion with Duty Manager today, he was not impressed that he was being forced to R&R on 7 different incorrect products (2 of each) (all substantially overpriced). First went to CS she sent me off with FMC (foods whatever) person, showed her offending label, posters, stickers, large promotional stickers, etc, some had both SEL and poster wrong, some had SEL and sticker wrong. He'd obviously recognised me from an earlier 'encounter', as to be honest I am absolutely not subtle. Anyway, CS called him down to authorise R&R, muttered a few words then went off to mobile, could overhear him talking about banning (which I presumed referred to me), another lady came down took all the product details, and went off with said duty manager for 5 minutes so she said. After 10 minutes asked CS to phone HQ ('edit : giving her the number 0800 505555'), and gave her number spoke to guy at HQ who wasn't best pleased at lack of pricing integrity, said he'd speak to duty manager, CS took phone and hush hush said he is on the phone to the HQ corporate law department, obviously discussing whether they had a leg to stand on if they did try to ban me. Eventually he came back after nearly 30 minutes, and said give him a refund. Clearly he'd been told by the LAW department not to be a total muppet, because if the Mr T's pricing integrity issue did become public they'd be well and truly up a certain creek without a certain paddling instrument. Expecting to get away with wasting my time he tried to toddle off, oh no you don't. Giving him the soundest rollocking he has probably ever had, I know he'd have loved to banned me, but as you can see, duty managers know nothing of the law, in fact as much as Mr T's know about pricing integrity, which since yesterday has been virtually non-existant in the meat and diary aisles, and entertainment. I told him if he did not want to abide by the policy, he was in infringement of both the CPA and the advertising standard laws, a blank looked prevailed. Also that his 'our promise' should be taken down as it clearly is not a promise at all.
I have my receipts kept in good order detailing any overcharges, etc.
I actually now feel some degree of sympathy with some of the staff at Mr T's, although some mistakes are laziness, with duty managers of this calibre who expect it to be a god given right to mischarge customers, and the offer offer offer attitude of HQ, it is virtually impossible for the prices to be right. When a whole aisle has to be re-stickered with inadequate staff (due to profit/cost issues) then someone at the top needs to be taken to book.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items.

Got overcharged for a couple of CDs today in Leyland. They have now changed the notices to say "if we overcharge you......". The gentleman I spoke to told me that I was not overcharged because the prices of the items were on the shelves and they were correct, and that the poster prices were not the correct prices. I argued that they are shown as a promotion commencing 10.10.05,and they must charge the lowest price shown for an item. He then told CS lady to refund only the difference. I stood my ground and got a full refund. But he removed all posters with prices on.
The CDs were Saturday Night Fever and Dido, btw. I think Natasha Bedingfield was also wrong, but couldn't check, as no scanner in Leyland.

I know- I've been looking for it on this thread as I know its there but its a bit elusive. Do you have it? Thanks for the encouraging reply.--Tony-- wrote:Your right.
I think its time to tke the HQ number with you and call them then and there in the store and pass your phone over to CS.
PS the HQ number is not the same as the 0800 on the back of the club card.
It is frustrating when you know that you are right but the people you are talking to just keep repeating the same thing over and over.
I'm impressed by how other people handle these things- and I am thick skinned so can stand my ground, but sometimes it seems you have to appleal to a higher authority...0 -

I would still say call HO and complain about this manager his hostility should be a warning to you that his next action would be more likely to ensure he doesn't have another encounter with you and ban you as has been the case with others, HO are enforcing the policy as it IS highlighting poor housekeeping and more importantly p*ss poor managerment in the regions. They will get away as much as you allow them to, the policy must be followed up however reluctant individual managers are to do so and HO seem at least recently to be driving this message home to the regions. If you get any hassle or intimidation I would say make the call everytime make sure they don't get the opportunity of shutting you up with a ban consider it insurance.sarahg1969 wrote:Got overcharged for a couple of CDs today in Leyland. Better still keep it in your head that's a very easy number to remember and the impact when you rattle it off to a manager is little short of volcanic.--Tony-- wrote:Yep, Keep this number in wallet or purse at all times:

I am glad that no one else has been banned. I am trying (without sucess) to contact Mr Gavin Porter. I have been told that he is the person who can deal with my ban. I left a message on his phone last thursday, still no reply. His phone goes straight to voicemail. I will try the 0800 number tomorrow.
I am going to try very hard not to go mad with them.
I have to say that it is very embarassing not to be able to shop at my local Tesco. I think the discussion may be heated.
