Sorry Byl I thought I responded to this but can't find my answer.
The words "This does not affect your statutory rights" are your defence here, the refund is of no consequence to the original sale in that it is a "goodwill gesture" if you like, I prefer the term "get out of jail free card" essentially you have been sold a policy and are entitled to the cover and your redress is with Tesco and not the insurer as Tesco had no right to cancel it in the first place, I suggest you contact head office first and advise them you intend to return to the store so that they can reinstate the policy for you and request they contact the store and advise them of your statutory rights under these circumstances to ensure you are not ousted by the resident growler.
This transaction could have and should have been refunded without the need to affect the original policy it has been dealt with this way for one of two reasons, incompetence or revenge.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

And if things don't add up!
In the unlikely event you are charged a higher price than that on the shelf or the product, we will refund your money and you can keep the product, or alternatively we will ban you from our stores throughout Britain and make a general fool of you in public prior to you being unceremoniously ejected by the Tattood Fatty (security personel)!
very insulting words Ben and words tha I would not have thought you would have used, but, there i must be mistaken if I thought you had some decency about you, especially when you offered me those tickets.
I make offers of items I have in abundance and cannot use myself frequently the offers are generally non exclusive but if conditions apply are usually stated in the offer, if you had taken me up on the offer you would have received your tickets the same as any other mser and I hasten to add enjoyed a very humorous evening, feel free to take me up on further offers if you wish. If not then simply do as I do with your veiled threats and ignore them.

Seeing as there are quite a fw knowledgeable people here perhaps someone could clarify and give their views on the bulk purchasing policies.
I know some items have a limit of six - can someone clarify which items this is please. Also, presumably I can pay for six of said items and the same number again free on BOGOF deals?
thanks0 -

In the case of BOGOF the bulk buy limit of six would enable you to have twelve items in your basket as it refers to purchases and your total purchase would be six, that having been said the bulk buy policy is deliberately interpreted by most staff to suit their immediate needs and many would set a limit of six in your basket as they simply cannot or will not grasp the logic of their own wording, the upshot of it is really that they do not HAVE to sell you any! so the ball is really in their court as to how they interpret their own policy locally, lending weight to their arguement is that there is no national bulk buy policy in force at Tesco, individual stores are allowed to apply a bulk buy policy to prevent small traders making large purchases because items can be bought cheaper at their stores than cash and carry's, effectively to avoid profiteering.
I'd say have the discussion and walk away whatever the outcome in the knowledge that you have adequately explained to someone how thick or dishonest they have been in applying it incorrectly!

On to BOGOF deals I think it really is down to the individual till person/supervisor on the day. I always smile and ask first if it is Ok and happily took 20 packets of cereal through for joeys [no problem at Mr T's, Asda got supervisor's OK], same with other offer items. Same applies with coupons if I have a number that are going out of date or I need to use I go to self scan, and always let the supervisor know [my local store knows me now as I say I will feed machine with tokens until you tell me to stop and we have a good laugh and joke about my coupon collection]. With misprices I never get more than 4 in total just to be on the safe side. And before anyone comes back at me, I was in senior management. and have no problem at all using tokens or taking overcharges back. It is not abusing anyone policy to a] be money wise and b] expect your bill to be correct. As I have said before the few of us that point out these mistakes are in effect acting as mystery shoppers, and are the sole voice for the thousands who for can't or won't go to Cs themselves with overcharges.0 -
In my ramble above forgot to mention that when go to Cs for refunds although I am not averse to pointing out the finer details of Mr T's policies [mainly managers who in some cases could really do with some persoanl skills training ] I also always fill in one of those little praise/award cards for staff who are genuinely helpful [ I can very easily make a Herbert of myself and cause chaos ]. To date I have had 1 letter from my local T's and 1 phone call from a T's I use occasionally both thanking me for nominating a member their staff for an award. The staff nominated get an award which I presume goes on file & may count towards promotion. Not a lot but I was always taught that a smile and a thank you goes a long way.0

OK so how much have you got now?
Today I got another £32 live aid and £9.97 Eagles

Kenny4315 wrote:I can't believe you have found another live aid !! :money: :T
That's one very generous store.
naaa I travel a lot for work and have printed off all the extras, drop into them all as I pass. in Sunbury, London two on the shelf for £32.99 but lady had draw under shelf open to restock. I noticed a £29.99 live aid in draw an grabbed it quick..0 -
Tesco sent me this some a few weeks ago, I was re-reading it as the manager in my express around the corner has refused to refund on my parmisan which was £17.08 on SEL and £17.49 on packet, he says its only on the SEL as a guide. nothing in the email to help my situation sadly, but nearly every cheese and meat mis-price I ever got was on this basis!
Anyhow I will take this up in the morning, but in the mean time I think this is straight from their manual, I was a bit shoked they sent such a confusing email with terms only a Tesco manager would understand, don't know how they expect customers to understnd.
We however do understand and I think there are some very useful bits like "SEL with price for small variant displayed against larger variant of product" ie they stack the large items behind the label for the small item.
Thank you for your email.
Overcharging is defined as charging the customer more than is indicated on the SEL, POS or on the product itself. It does not include minor errors of size description on the SEL or POS, i.e. where the price indicated is actually the price charged but a mistake has been made in the weight or measure indication.
What Is NOT An Overcharge
These are examples of not overcharging:
405g on SEL, product actually 400g
Both base and Extra Free SELs on display but only base product on shelf
What IS An Overcharge
These are examples of overcharging:
Size on SEL correct but price charged is higher than on SEL
SEL with price for small variant displayed against larger variant of product
Price/EAN on SEL for small variant and displayed against small variant but size on SEL is for larger variant
Extra Free SEL alone on display but only base product on shelf
If a customer claims that they have been overcharged and the product / SEL fall into the section of 'What isn't an overcharge', and the customer does not want to keep the products, please offer the customer a refund under our 'Change Your Mind' Refund Policy.
Please note the customer will not receive an overcharge refund so they will not be allowed to keep the products, as it is not an overcharge.
Overcharge Section of the Refund Policy
AND IF THINGS DON?T ADD UP
In the unlikely event that we overcharge you we will give you your money back and you can keep the product.
These examples are not overcharging:
405g on SEL, product actually 400g
Both base and Extra Free SELs on display but only base product on shelf
These examples are overcharging:
Size on SEL correct but price charged is higher than on SEL

Unit Pricing
Unit Pricing, although required by law, is intended as a guide only to allow price comparisons and, due to rounding of the figures, cannot necessarily be used to calculate the final selling price. The POS that states this should be displayed throughout the store.
