If the manager comes down I always start on the offensive, before they even get a word in, by the time I have finished with him/her they don't know whether they are coming or going. They inevitably go off to lick their wounds hoping for an easy time on the next customer they try it on with. :mad:0

I love meeting meeting people like you who believe that they are so high and mighty, which is the way you come across. If the prices are wrong then so be it, but it seems to that you go out of your way to be-little people, obviously a person with no values. What line of business are you?0 -

Given that analysis, I'd guess he works in the grocery business, as a manager, for a company beginning with the letter "T".0 -

I retired at the age of 32, following on from a career as a senior management consultant at a global consultancy firm, after being a successful chartered management accountant, reaching the an a grade 1 below executive level at the age of 25. I have worked on systems and finance implementation on a variety of worldwide and well renowned companies advising companies on processes and procedures, and financial and legal implications, and have on many occasions conducted business with Board level directors of mutli-billion pound companies.
It's not being high and mighty it standing up for your rights, when prices are wrong, rather than getting fobbed off with disgraceful excuses. Obviously as a now Mr T's employee you would not know about such matters. Incidentally it is highly unlikely that you would 'love to meet me'. :rolleyes:0 -

I'd like to thank all of you who have given me words of advice.
Even the people whose opinion differs from mine.
Just to clarify. I was told that he was not giving me a reason for the ban as he didn't have to. Just before the ban he asked if I was in a few days ago (I said yes) asking for a refund on cheese and lamb. Then he asked me to leave the store, and that my custom was no longer welcome in any Tesco store. And to enter one would be trespass. To which I replied certainly, as soon as I have received my refund. The refund was authorised and then I left. On my way out he asked if he may speak to me again, he then reitterated what he had just said in the store.Repeating to me that he didn't have to give me a reason (I hadn't asked for one). I said of course you are right, you don't have to give me a reason, however I think your head office will want one. And that I would be interested to find out their opinion on the matter. Just for those of you who think there might be something else to this tale of mine. I am not some scumbag. I have a Tesco Platinum card which I spend approx £20,000 a year on. I have no criminal record. However I was made to feel like a thief today.
Thanks to you all again.

Hi Matt - please keep us all informed as to how things progress. Are you able to tell us what store it is yet, or are you wanting to keep things quiet for now and give them chance to change their mind and apologise? I'm guessing it is one is Scotland.
Buying four of the item is NOT taking the mickey, though if they prefer to ban people instead of charging the correct price they are of course entitled to do so.
Was it a 1p overcharge on the item? Always seems strange to be that the price per pound is usually consistent, but per kg is not. I hoped we had gone metric a long time ago.0 -
fdj100 wrote:So pray Ben how do they source thier security personell, I would be very interested. Why are they deserving of it, what facts do you have to substantiate this sweeping statement?
The reason I ask Ben is that I am employed as a Security Manager with Tesco and have been for 12 years, 2 of those years spent in eastern europe setting up Loss Prevention and Security from green field sites for Tesco. I have also spent 25years with the Royal Military Police and was awarded the BEM by HM The Queen, so you see I am a little angry to say the least at your assumptions.
I read the thread.0 -
The items I bought were 3 x 1p overcharge and 1 x 20p overcharge.
I would also like to point out that there was a big fat security guard there to back up the manager, and to throw his 2p worth into the threat of trespass.
However I don't have any dislike for the security or general staff of Tesco. Most are just doing their job. Some, but not all managers fail to see that getting their prices right is their job, and not banning people who point it out for them.
To the ex RMP who is having a bit of a slating, I do not join in, in this. I believe that being a security guard isn't the most rewarding job, but you are still out working when others perhaps wouldn't bother.
Again I thank all those who are giving me words of support.

ilikepoints wrote:Have to say i feel sorry for the guy who got banned - fancy being banned for pointing out that they're overcharging customers. :wall: I suggest we all boycott that particular store or just go there to buy mispriced items and nothing else. Anyone know which brach of Tesco it is?
Here here. Tesco's managers clearly have little appreciation for the law.
How about a team of 20 people all go in at the same time, all buy 2 mispriced DVDs, 2 mispriced Joints, 2 mispriced packs of tomatoes, peppers and salmon and stuff 'em for circa £2k having formed an orderly queue at the CS desk.
