wannasave wrote:ben500, personally I don't think it is helpful to give that sort of advice to anyone. Tesco are well within their rights to refuse to serve or admit anybody to their stores. Not because of overcharging but because of abuse of their policy and I think this is the reason they would give here. Justifiably so, IMO.
Nobody buys 4 joints in one go unless they are doing just that. It's not even ok to say "I bought it because it was on special offer" or something when the price difference was only 1p per kilo - hardly a special offer and not something you'd be buying 4 of unless you knew you were going to get it free! Get real here!
They feel the policy was being abused and I think would have every justification in their decision to ban someone on those grounds. I think those buying lots of something, or doing this repeatedly or chancing it for 1p are running the risk of this happening to them too and frankly, I don't think there's any problem for Tesco to overcome this one whoever you go tittle tattling to.
No, I don't work for Tescos before I get accused of that!
Hi there wannasave,
You are entitled to your opinion, and in hindsight I think 4 joints was perhaps kicking the a**e out of it. But on the other hand this store is huge and are constantly overcharging. For every person that complains a hundred or more don't. They make a fortune this way. In another store that overcharged me once, they have now bucked up their ideas and are charging nearly everything right. This has stopped us MSErs taking advantage admitedly, but in the bigger picture it has meant a lot less people are overcharged.
To Ben, no there are no other underlying reasons for the ban.To win a competition gives you the spirit to carry on (Comping).0 -
I must admit, I do worry about trying to get the policy enforced if the misprice is just a penny - I don't want hassle or upset, especially being pregnant, so I simply don't chance it.
But overcharging, no matter how small, is wrong and they should not be doing it really should they?3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I think it depends. If you solely went in for 4 joints that you knew would be free, it brings the managers attention to you somewhat.
However, when i used to work on the checkouts, it wasn't uncommon to have 4 joints in one trolley if the customer was doing a large shop. So depends on the rest of the shopping IMO.
I now no longer actively hunt out misprices(unless it's something I would really like such as the Jem CD:shhh: ) I just write down the price of everything I put in my trolley. There has only been 1 weekly shop since july where I haven't been overcharged for at least one thing.
I quite frequently go to the CS desk to get a refund for 4 items. They're all part of my weekly shop. I would be disgusted if I was banned from Tesco for gettting my weekly shop where they had overcharged me and I was merely pointing out to CS on how many goods I had been overcharged for.
Let us know how you get on with TS.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

In my local Tesco they now have a sign up on the shelves where products are priced per kg saying the unit price is for guidance only!! Surely that is not lawful and the unit price should be based upon the price per kg multiplied by the weight of the item? Perhaps Trading Standards should pay a visit?0

AND you obviously don't shop in Winchester Tesco, else you would have been doubly banned for bulk buying.:rotfl:Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Why wouldn't you buy four joints together? Here's a stack of reasons why you might
1 Large Family / friend's get together
2 Filling the Freezer
3 Have the money available now and want to buy what you can while you can afford it
4You fancy a decent roast a couple of times a week
Clearly this isn't an exhaustive list. This point is that 4 joints is not excessive.
Using generalisations like that could also be applied to wine - unless you're surname is Best, why would you want to buy more than a couple of bottles at once? Doesn't stop Tesco from encouraging it though.....0 -

Surely the law covers this - Perhaps they'd get away with it if EVERY SEL said it, but then, just remove the SELs it's cheaper.0 -

I have just been banned from all Tescos!!!
I had 4 mispriced joints. The duty manager came over and said are you the one who bought the cheese the other day? When I said yes, he said my presence was no longer welcome in any Tesco store, and I would be treated as a trespasser if I was to enter one.
WHOOOA ! HOLD THE PHONE !!!!
Mr T's are seriously upping the ante on this one, I for one would cause them more grief than they could possibly imagine if they tried this sort of stunt on me. My line of enquiries would be MR T HQ on the phone, issuing them with details of the constant mischarging dossier that I have compiled, evidence can be provided by my phone records to HQ detailing these offences and various obstructions, plus receipts.
A stern letter would then be sent if this failed : with the following on the address list MR T CHIEF EXECUTIVE, MR ASDA CEO, MR SAINSBURYS CEO, plus the remainder of the large supermarket chains. Read yesterday that the shopkeepers union taking Mr T to court, due to price flexing forcing smaller shops out of business, copy to them sure they'd be happy for the pointers. Then I have a copy to Trading Standards, and another several copies to the national newspapers. With accompanying photo's if required of goods overcharged on a regular and consistent basis. Escpecially worth looking into are Mr T's special offers, BIG SIGNS saying £2.50 off while the products are all incorrect still.
I for one am not the sort of person who would take it lying down and would insist it getting my REVENGE, don't forget my mother's from Palermo, Sicily, and I for one have inheritied a nasty streak when organisations like MR T's basically stitch folk up on a constistent basis.
Personally I don't really care too much if they pull the policy, if they must it will show they are not confident of their pricing, too an extent they pull the policy and ban those who utilise it from their stores.
I doubt very much the traders in the stock market will view this favourably if it ever got out. A small downward share price shift may result which would definitely wipe the smile off MR T's face.
I'd also point out what he wanted me to do with my other Mr T products, such as Visa, House Insurance, etc, I could be forced to get shot of these which would again be bad PR. :mad:0 -

If they sell you 4 then they can refund 4 (if their priced wrong), they can't have it both ways ! Get yourself a wig and a false beard and nip in again for another 4 !!!0 -

If I understand the law correctly there is no law of trespass here in Scotland.0
