The policy exists to compensate customers who have genuinely been overcharged. It was not intended to be used as a means of getting basket-loads of free shopping by customers who actively seek to get themselves overcharged.
Before long I think the policy will be withdrawn or re-written to have restrictions added.
Are you seriously saying that it is the customer that is abusing Mr T's for their total and utter incompetence. For example, Chicken thighs the other day, two shelf labels, one at £2.18, one at £2.68, both next to each other, shelf full of different priced items. Picked up a couple, overcharged. Went to CS showed her the offending labels. I said over and over and over again, I HOPE YOU ARE GOING TO SORT THIS PROBLEM OUT, given she'd not removed the offending labels, not allowed too now she says.
Anyway as leaving said yet again make sure that's sorted out  . 'I WILL, I WILL', 3 days later go into same store for some milk, have a quick check, they have removed the correct label but sure as can be the wrong label for £2.18 is still there. Get another couple overcharged and point this out. NEED I SAY MORE !!!!!
Another classic is where the manager knows a product is on offer but his stock is at the old price, rather than relabelling his stock to match a nationally based offer (eg £1 off organic lamb chops, etc) has the label in the shelf facing the wrong way so customers are unaware of the offer. I bet that the marketing managers at Mr T's are happy saying in public they have lower prices on this product than other supermarkets though. This in my view is disgraceful, a nationally based company, who's manager has been given instructions to offer a product at a set price, (verifed if you look on website, or other stores (as per misprice list and misprice thread), who has choosen to ignore the price because he can't be bothered with the hassle of relabelling his products. In other cases (stores as listed per misprice thread and from my own experience) where the SEL product price is being showed as per the offer they have taken every step to avoid relabelling the actual product thus overcharging constantly on the offer products, even when they have been told/aware of the need to relabel the products.
If I were an ASDA et al advertising man I'd have a company campaign called EVERY LITTLE HELPS MAYBE  , listing a whole raft of products overcharged by Mr T's, in the week (maybe a month would cost too much in TV airtime).
Alongside this I'd have another campaign called 'OUR PROMISE MAYBE' highlighting examples of how Mr T's are trying to discourage customers from getting product refunds (as per policy), by using any underhand tactic in the book such as 'do it again and your banned', 'that's not the right product', 'last weeks product', 'different barcode', etc. I would verify these findings by having a team of independent researchers go into multiple Mr T's stores and basically check if things are being done according to policy and the law. I think Mr T's would find it difficult to spin there way out of this total incompetence and disregard for their customers if this matter came out in an open public forum, such as a national newspaper, or another supermarket asking difficult questions.0 -
damski wrote:i was in MR Ts today on business and as part of that had to go into the security office where the cctv can be viewed
Imagine my suprise when there on the desk was a still of myself at the CS desk with the words "persistent refunder" written on it
I have had two refunds in the last two weeks!
I made a joke of it with the security guy, and he laughed as well, saying that CS staff got in a huff with people who knew their rights, and that they were perfectly entitled to have their money back and keep the goods.
The photo ended up being used as note paper, but I was just suprised to see the piccy
doesnt help I suppose being quite big with a bald head (so I stand out) and also I suppose having pleasant conversations with the CS staff probably makes me more memorable as well.
I feel that you should phone HO and ask if this is acceptable. Persistent offender is a title for someone breaking the law, not someone who has got a refund because Mr T's has broken the law.
I must remember to wear a some smart gear next time, don't want to miss a good photo opportunity, wonder if you asked nicely they'd be able to print out a couple, given I always do the photography never seem to get many shots of myself, would be very handy for the photo album, free of course !! :rotfl:
Either that or we all need to start going in disguise !! Now where is that wig at ??0 -
One for you experts...I need advice although I feel I'm on a loser. Bought some stuff this morning with yellow SEL stating 3.88 though I paid 4.88 at checkout.
I've just been back and the sel is still there but in small print it says 'offer ends 20/9'.
I'm pretty sure they are covered but this type of thing really upsets me as I only bought the damn things cos they were a good price.0 -

The point is that you are not expected to read the tiny small print, and if the offer is still up it is their fault for being slack in taking them down. They are therefore still advertising the offer price, so you can get them for it, as many others on this site have done recently!0 -
Thanks for the advice. Now what do you think.... should I go and clear the shelves and confront the CS people?0

In some instances, yes. There are plenty of examples on this thread of people who are greedy and travel to every store in their area, and then buy large quantities of an item which they then attempt to get for free.
In my view this is dishonest and cheating the policy. I accept the right price should be displayed, but two wrongs don't make a right.0 -
Chipbeck - the point is that the price indication was misleading, which is what in law makes it an offence. A price indication does not have to be false to be misleading.
As far as the Tesco policy is concerned, you are certainly entitled to a refund.0 -

So how do you explain why banks use small print in credit card applications, or why most contracts generally feature conditions written in small print.
In fact, have you never heard the saying "always check the small print"?
Of course the customer is expected to read the small print!0 -
Have you never heard the phrase "the customer is always right"? Why are customers being made to feel they are doing something illegal when its Tesco's own policy that allows it? Either Tesco has a policy or it doesnt, it cant bend it to suit.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Are there any other examples of small print wrong date errors or is this a first?0
