Perhaps we should all go together and challenge CS as a trio then!0

Tesco_victim wrote:Hello all
So full refund after a second visit :T, although the manager said that because I noticed the over charge whilst still in the store, they have the right not to use the R&R . She would not agree with me when I said that once money had exchanged from the customer to Tesco that is when the over charge takes place, not when you leave the store!
Yep one duty manager tried that on with me as well. Said I had not been overcharged as had not left store so therefore R&R did not apply. She offered difference which OH I refused, then said I cannot let you leave store without giving you the difference as now we both know you have been overcharged for the item. OH politely pointed to the checkout and said that is where the contract of sale is made and the store effectively ends, you accepted my wifes money the goods are ours, please give us our receipt, she was still clutching it and I will take it up with HO tomorrow [was a sunday and dundee dont work then]. He then proceeded to the exit with goods. We rang next morning and a lovely guy instructed store to issue full refund.0 -

After picking up 6 CDs the nice CS lady called a grumpy Manager - R&R was processed but the Manager told me in a very solemn tone - "I'm going to have to call the P.I."
Tanoy call went out.....
.....message to the Manager that the 'P.I.' wasn't available......
.....so off I went.
What in the name of all that is Holy is a Tesco 'P.I.'????

PERSONAL INTERROGATOR, as in IRON MAIDEN, just kidding that store has been smacked several times this week for CD/DVD,s I know cos I was there. CS there are really nice so they must be fed up to the back teeth with Entertainments Dept. Bet the grumpy duty manager was the same one I complained to HO about.0 -
dbilsborough wrote:unfortunately I suspect the majority of people on this board are just out for what they can get for free so the number of complaints will be minimal, Tesco will keep on overcharging on a load of stuff and refund a small percentage of that to the small amount of people "in the know", human greed is a wonderful thing isn't it...
Not so as I keep saying all I want is to be able to do my shopping in the knowledge that the price displayed is the price I will be charged without having to scrutinise receipts for mistakes. On another note perhaps we should invoice for our time when we are kept waiting, for them to deign to correct THEIR mistakes. [ and I dont just mean Tesco] after all MY time is as valuable as theirs. Perhaps they would think twice about leaving people waiting 30 mins if they knew it was costing them.0 -
re cd possible misprices: I tried to scan a couple on the checking machine today (which was working on most things) but it wouldn't read the barcodes of the CD's presumably due to the big plastic case, so I put them back. Any tips on how to scan these?0

I shall be scrutinising every one I see in tescos now, just in case it's either of you! It takes me long enough to do my shopping now anyway, checking out all of these prices.
Have you tried Chichester? I had an Oasis DVD on Sunday, Customer Services said I had to go to the Electrical service desk at the rear of the store. The queue was verrrrry long. I explained my problem very politely. I had been overcharged, as the sticker on the DVD said £6.97, but I had been charged £7.94. Assistant got calculator out, muttering 'lets see how much you have been overcharged'. I mentioned that I thought it was irrelevant, as under their policy I was entitled to a full refund and to keep the product. He just said OK then and refunded back to my card. He DID know the policy, just wasn't going to abide by it. So anyone who doesn't know about it will not get their full refund.
Happy hunting

CS at my local store have refused R&R. Both times this has happened on a Sunday and as we are nervous demanding R&R anyway, seems like they're succeeding in fobbing us off. Awhile back I was overcharged on a CD, showed CS woman poster she claimed ignorance (didn't understand what the poster meant) and asked some guy who apparently worked in that section. He agreed a misprice. Back at CS desk, she passed me over to another woman after mumbling she had something to be getting on with (was shuffling receipts). CS woman 2 about to process refund of the difference, I point to policy behind her. She goes to speak to man in shirt and tie, comes back with "I've spoken to my manager and we can't do a full refund if you want to keep the CD". OH was refused a refund on an overcharged DVD boxset. Same CS woman who pretended not to understand the poster prices refunded the 2p difference. Poor OH (first time doing R&R) walked to the car park then decided to pursue R&R after some persuasion. Waited another 20 minutes in the queue (CS queues are atrocious - why?
). CS woman 1 said her colleague had told her to refund the difference (outright lie  ). Sticker price out by 2p but they still asked to be shown where the DVD was picked up from. CS woman 2 (as above) was actually smirking as refund was processed. It seemed so obvious that she knew she was taking the p*ss not doing R&R as she refused to look at him. Decided not to but in as I don't want to get myself banned but absolutely livid that they take the p*ss of customers like this. The policy is obviously there yet they are not sticking to it. How is it that they can get away with this? Is it because this happened on Sunday and they know HO is closed so stupid customers like us just accept the difference or don't insist on R&R because there is no one to back us up? OH accepted refund without the product and is probably unlikely to ever attempt this again so future overcharge victim - score Tesco, they have won . Have no idea what to do about this. Is it worth ringing head office? CS woman 2 said OH could return the next day to speak to the manager - is this worth doing? I just think the manager tells the CS staff to do whatever they can to get out of doing R&R
 yet they won't get their s*dding prices right  .

The policy says the 'shelf' it does not say the 'shelf edge label', thus implying that it is any price indication in the vicinity that they are compelled to compare against, which would be directly comparable to the relevant laws which the policy is designed to protect them against. Is the poster not displayed on the shelf containing the CDs I think that is the case, and thus the policy wording does mean you should get a refund.
For example, some items are not in shelfs thus the price thus can not be on a shelf, the price is sometimes attached to the items, ie large packs of beer on promotion, or PC, or similar items, or the price is in close proximity to the item for sale.
Edit : I have it directly from the CS staff in one store that they have been told not to offer an R&R unless the customer asks for it. When asked who had told her this, although she would not say but it became obvious that it was not the CS staff, it was the store manager. Not much of an OUR PROMISE I told her.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items.0 -

I also tend to shop when HO is closed. When this kind of thing happens it is best to keep the item ( you could always return it later ) and call HO next morning. They then call the store who should call and tell you to come in for R and R. If you accept the difference, I don't think you can then go back for a full R and R though others may know different.
Once when I called HO I got someone who agreed with the store. I asked for a manager and got lost in the system- called back and the next person was fine. The store called and said ' Yes we were displaying a false advertisement'. Exactly the point I had to give up making the night before.
It is horrible when you are refused and treated like an idiot or a criminal.
However, don't give up! When you get a refund because they have been displaying a false price you are doing nothing wrong. Many other Tesco CS people would have treated you differently and cheerfully refunded you (well almost cheerfully).0 -
Sorry if this should be on discussion thread. What about just taking to till as usual. Look out for price popping up. If it is the lower price just look confused and say-' Oh- I've changed my mind about those ones' . For extra effect you could look worriedly at your money, though that isn't strictly necessary... :rotfl:0
