had the CD been opened (as in the shrinkwrap or seal been taken off)? If it had and you wanted to return it for your money back, rather than it being faulty, then I think they would say this was not "as it was sold" and are probably right.
From the website: "If you change your mind within 28 days, we are happy to refund or exchange the product, providing you have your receipt and the product is returned as sold."
If it was still sealed then they should refund it and are incorrect in what they told you.0 -

Thanks redfox, however, the cd was sold to me without the shrink wrap - quite a few cds in Tesco are like this.0 -

ah, ok, I've never bought a CD at Tesco so didn't know that. I presume, though, that they have some sort of seal (to prevent the case being opened by somebody instore)?0 -
Unfortunately, no. All the cds are in security cases, which are removed when you buy them.
I think I will try another branch and see if they're in a more generous mood.0 -

Policy is as follows :
As long as the item is in its original as sold condition you will be able to get refund with receipt. You can confirm this with HQ if you wish 0800 505555. Lady consulted her manuals when I called few weeks ago and verified this to be the case.
A a different note it does seem stupid selling non-shrink wrapped CDs and DVDs as Tescos do, escpecially given copyright issues, ie burning CD or MP3 conversion.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items.0 -

I wanted to return a cd today with a valid receipt, (not a refund) and was told that cds are not refundable. I asked if I could exchange it instead and she said she couldn't do that either.
She said the policy was written up somewhere in the store (but she didn't know where), and I couldn't find it.
Does anyone know whether this is correct?
It is totally correct. I will take a photo of the policy board tomorrow for you if you want.
It basically says we will exchange CDs, DVDs, Videos and Computer Software, but it also says
"We may restrict exchanges to the same product due to the problem of unlicensed copying"
or something to that effect. I will post a picture later though
Its not on the "Our Promise" board -its a board called Additional Policies or something - it should also state on the back of the receipt (something like 'please refer to the additional policies instore for entertainment and electrical items' or something IIRC - need to check that though, I thought it did!).
It has the policies for mobiles, entertainment, electrical and clothing on.Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Wrong! Bloody Head Office don't know their !!!!!! from their elbow sometimes, I swear.
I've got it in blue and white... I'll take a photo later!Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.0 -
Just yesterday we exchanged 2 DVD's that werent sealed at all. The CS lady wasnt sure at first, however I told her they had come like that (unsealed) from the security case. She conferred with a colleague who said she could see they hadnt been played so it was fine to exchange them. We didnt have a receipt either so I guess like everything else Tesco - it's down to the luck of the draw with your local store.0

I bought some Christmas presents:
3x JR Pop CD = Poster Price £10.77 - Charged £10.97
2x Kasabian = Poster £5.77 (ish need to check digipics)- Charged £7.97
Noticed mistake on my way out of the store, so went to C.S.
The "nice" lady came with me to look at the poster price then she contacted the audio manager, L.T. They offered me a full refund BUT they where to keep the CDs! I pointed out the sign behind her stating the R&R, which her reply was 'Audio and electric are not included'. She stated that I could come back the next day and buy the CDs at the poster price once the problem had been corrected.
I left with the CDs and the receipt.
Realising I had nobody’s name to inform head office, I went back into the store. I asked the same C.S. for her name and her manager’s name. She gave me the name of the store manager (R.P) and the audio manager (L.T), but refused to give me her name. Her name badge stated it is 'Joy'. That’s a laugh!
I know it is illegal to advertise something and sell it for a higher price.
I would appreciate some advise on this matter.
They made me feel like a criminal.
Thats not right.
Agree with others comments.
Also if you dont want to phone up HO in store which is a bit confrontational then simply refuse any refunds offered and take the good home.
This way you have still been wronged, call HO from home and explain what happened and they will give you the refund via vouchers in the post.

Apologies for the big size, but I wanted you to be able to read them. Funny though, everyone asking me why I was taking photos of the policy board (as I was still in uniform)... "Oh, just someone asking me what the policy was, and they wanted to see for themselves!"
lol.
Anyway, back to the point - Dundee can stick that in their pipe and smoke it - they put the damn things there!Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine.
