LOL @ the thousands of points error people.
I've had that happen to me - but I genuinely made a mistake.
I was crediting someone with points at CSD, and theres two options we can use - value or points.
Value is where you enter the value of the transaction (e.g. 88.56) and it works out how many points to award.
Points is...er.. well, the number of points you want to credit.
Well I accidentally selected the 2nd option, points, instead of value - and I typed in something like 11000 - which I thought I was entering £110.00. But the customer actually got 11,000 points - and Clubcard phoned me (traced via till/operator number) and asked me why I'd credited 11,000 points to someone - and then it showed up on the instore operator exceptions report, and I had everyone else saying "Eeeek!".
Turns out Clubcard have the right to cancel points given in error, so they took them away from the customer... just hope they didn't notice and thinkt hey had 11,000 points free lol.Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Goater1Nil wrote:Does anybody know what the score is with the scanners when it says "please ask a member of staff" I've found cd's/dvd's with a price mismatch, but when I use the selfscan machine it always gives this message, I've not got the bottle to take it through the tills and then say I don't want it if it comes out at the lower price. Any info would be great
It generally means two things: (which have been said before in the thread!)
1. The item is not on file which is Tesco lingo for 'no price on the system'
2. The scanner is having temporary problems accessing the database to lookup a price, which usually resolved by attempting again and again.Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Had a debate with CS today over mispriced bacon.
SEL said 2.06, my pack (and loads of others on the shelf) said 2.48 on packet. Some said 2.06, but were going out of date earlier, and were fatty looking, so I got a 2.48 pack.
CS came back with a £2.06 flashed pack saying that I should have picked up this pack if I'd wanted that price. I explained that the SEL said 2.06, so surely that should apply to all the same stock of that name. No, only the special offer ones, she said. But I didn't like the look of the 2.06 ones, says I, and explained I wanted the bacon I picked up and had expected to be charged 2.06 as per SEL. No, she says, like I said before, that price only applies to the flashed pack. I told her that was extremely misleading and if the SEL said the product at a price, I would expect to pay that price whether it had a flashed sticker on it or not.
We went round in circles like this for a while...she finally did a "oh whatever" and gave me a refund.
She couldn't argue with my R + R parsnips though as they had a sticker on with their price...half what the till had charged me.
So, said it before, but I'll say it again, write down every price when you shop. It really does highlight just how many errors are made on the little items too.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

!!!!!!_Dastardly wrote:Not entirely true, Tescos have an advertised policy, (in some branches (not shown in all), but can be confirmed with HQ) that says something on the lines of 'if you have no receipt we will give you an exchange to the value of the current price of the item'.
Humm, I'd like to call Dundee and find out about that then!
In all my CSD training books, it states that receipts are needed - and even the policy itself (which I cant remember word for word right now...)Our Promise
• If you are not happy with the quality of any of our products please bring them back within 28 days with your receipt and we will happily refund or replace the item.
• If you change your mind within 28 days, we are happy to refund or exchange the product, providing you have your receipt and the product is returned as sold.
Although we are told to be mindful of situations (especially around christmas), the policy is still that you need a receipt.Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. !!!!!!_Dastardly wrote:<snip> Ref: accounts for overcharging
Overcharges are dealt with in two ways. Firstly, a refund is issued to the customer, and the 'product' (technically speaking) is returned to the bookstocks of the stock control system.
However, the 2nd part of the process then logs the product as 'waste' - therefore every overcharge is refunded, returned to bookstocks (in theory), then logged as known lost (waste, as opposed to unknown loss, which is shrink), which results in the product coming off bookstocks again, as the customer has kept it.
I'm not sure if that clears it up... I didnt quite understand the stuff you were saying in the post about accounts credit/debit etc.Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. spender wrote:Joel can you help. the last couple of times at Tescos when I have presented my Tesco's plus card they have hesitated whilst looking at the screen and then very closely scrutinised the money off vouchers. I have used several of the additional 150 points for welcoming me to clubcard. Do they bring up information on screen about you such as "check extra close, extra fast one being pulled". I am getting paranoid.
LOL - no. But there are often circulars about checking coupons carefully, hence the 'scrutinisation' of your coupons.
As for using with Clubcard+, no difference. Your paranoia is probably showing to the cashier and making them think "Hummmm!" lol
The coupon 'process' is chaning over the coming months though - especially with regards to Clubcard vouchers. So those of you that buy/sell them through eBay - watch out, and be warned... I certainly wouldn't buy any Clubcard coupons through eBay now at all!
(Hint: Watch out for the nice loooonnng barcode on all your vouchers, which never has the same number twice)
