Yeah, I'm getting a divorce soon though. It's just not working out.

Nah, I only can only take 3 years of peoples moaning for now (if not customers its staff now I'm a team monkey leader), its gonna be time soon for me to jump ship and join the 'S.S. IT Support' I think ;)

Interesting how you refer to your colleagues/subbordinates as monkeys

I've only tried twice, once successfully (2 cd's) and once unsuccessfully (price on yellow sign not SEL, werent going to honour it as it could have been moved). Two different Tescos.
The people on CS always seem to be middle aged women. At the tills, its good policy to choose a teenager especially a boy as they don't argue about coupon policy whereas middle aged women do often argue. So, if you go say late in the evening are you likely to get less or more arguments, as a general rule? Anybody got any tips?

!!!!!!, your knowledge of stuff is amazing.

If I am going to be having a discussion with the store manager, or whoever, I at least like to know the subject matter in some depth, it is only common courtesy when having an arguement to know the subject you are arguing about.

That is the main areas surrounding retail law, ie. contract law, sale of Goods act, Consumer protection act, Regualtions regarding advertising, Law of Tort (regarding product liability and negligence, etc), and others. I would at least expect the store manager, duty managers, etc to have some grasp of these areas of law but unfortunately on most occasions they can't seem to spell the word law, let alone know anything about it, given Tescos No1 retail position I find this a total and utter disgrace. I would have expected these guys at the very least to have a basic understanding of these areas, if they haven't they should not be 'store manager', 'duty manager', etc.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D

What about the European Courts and the legislation regarding freedom of speech. This is not a labour party conference or a Tesco SS store where you get 3 big guys to throw out anyone, who you dislike, or does not approve of your actions / statements.

Edit : We don't live in Stalinist russia, we live in Tescoist Britain !

No, I was referring to myself being a (Tesco Team Leader) monkey. They feed me peanuts, and I do magic tricks for them!

(The phrase overworked and underpaid comes to mind...)

Other team leaders out there might get it...
Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.

    hi,

this is a question for joel

joel, why are some of the customer service people so agressive ? i have had five refund experiences.

I don't know to be honest. I suppose it depends on the people who have been chosen for that position.

They are not supposed to be agressive (obviously), and they don't like to be told that they are wrong (who does though?). Unavoidable though if they arn't following the policy.

But it does boil down to personality - it was amazing when I left customer services, as so many (regular) customers were disappointed that I'd moved over to checkouts.

I once had a complaint from a customer (in writing) for being too nice, so nice that she couldnt get angry with me, which she wanted to do as she was so annoyed about the product.

If you're having difficulty with them however, its best to seek someone in a blue shirt/red tie, or a womens pink/red blouse - AKA a manager/team leader. They can often go down to the desk and rationalise with staff and help to sort the problem. But the worst thing to do is demand to speak to a manager, as it just puts the poor darlings backs up even more ;)

Nah, seriously, if you are having problems, speak to a manager - you can ask anyone on shop floor to grab one for you.

As for the agressive staff - it shouldn't be. Next time you pop and see them, tell them to 'Share a smile'... and they'll be intrigued how you know about that phrase ;)
