What do you think is the best way/place to keep the £10 a day challenge?
Draw it out each day and keep it at home? Give to a relative? It may be too tempting to spend it if left in bank !!!
What about budget for petrol - should we take out what we think and see - trying to think of ways in which not to keep drawing/spending using debit card, as it just seems to slip away when you spend £10-£20 here and thereDEBT free:j0 -
hi cat in the hat i find the only way i ve limited my spends is to limit going near shops or cash points until absolutely desperate i never went one day without spending before finding this site now i sometimes manage 4 days (not often lol ) but the difference this makes to what i spend is fantastic i also now keep a list of every penny i spend its amazing how guilty you feel when you write down things you really didn t need it stops me buying cr**
about the £10 i ve started keeping an old purse with a couple of pound in for desperation and then just use my card when i really need to (i will resist i will resist lol ):rotfl:Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

If you are trying to pay off one of the debts for a reduced amount, please make sure you get a letter stating "Full and Final Settlement" before sending the money. If they agree to it over the phone and ask you to send in the money - don't. You need to receive it in writing or they could come back later and ask for the rest. Have a % in mind when you call to make the offer, then haggle. Let them know you don't have the full funds available but having received a bonus or something, you can make an offer of x%.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500

I don't know if anyone can help with this one? About ten years ago we bought a carpet from Carpetright - it was fitted incorrectly, and to cut a VERY long story short it went to court and our local court found Lombard Tricity who financed our carpet negligent, we had to pay some of the original debt (circa £1000) but the rest which amounted to charges/ interest adding to £3000 was written off!!
Anyway in the last year we have received letters, only about 3 from different DCA's requesting payment totaling £1473.64 - we have written to the previous letters stating the court case number etc etc thinking that the DCA will look into this.
However, today (which was a good day) we received another letter from a different DCA - Thames credit Ltd, requesting payment - what should we do or where should we go for help?

Was this a CCJ against you or what?
if it is over 6 years since you paid, the debt may be statute barred. Even if it is a CCJ, then after 6 years, they have to get court permission to re-open the case against you.
I would recommend ringing NDL as they are open for another 90 minutes and reading them the letter over the phone and explaining the situation.
If it is statute barred come back here. i will post up the letter in case.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Only send the letter on here if NDL tell you it is statute barred.

Well it happened in Feb 2004 - it was a CCJ, but it was settled and we had a counter claim, that is why we went to court. We know their solicitors name and the case number and that is what we have told the previous DCA's but it seems that the debt is then passed on to someone else!!!DEBT free:j0
