car insurance is for 3 cars -
a peugeot 406 - Tesco £30 per month
Voyager - Tesco £46 per month
sons car £48 per month (he can pay it- when he gets a job)
the voyager is high because, we have had two cars broken into, two cars set on fire and totally written off ( where we lost £1000's) That's another story!!!
I dont think we can go anywhere else because of the claims we have madeDEBT free:j0 -

Son has finished uni - and IS looking for a job:j (PE teacher) just hope he can survive - as we won't be able to help him out!!! His car insurance was £180 per month 5 years ago, so £48 doesn't seem so bad these days!!!!DEBT free:j0

DCA = Debt Collection Agency, when a creditor sells on your debt, it's usually to a DCA.0

Tell him to get down an agency on monday and do something min. wage to tide him over and pay his own car costs asap... it's great doing a rubbish job it inspires you for the rest of your life to not go back....yeah and charge him board too
Summer's coming up so all the kiddy camps and playschemes will be looking for staff too. Over 18, has arms and legs, can pay his own car costs.... seriously an inactive adult is a drain especially with a car so anything temporary whilst he looks will help.
SoA - groceries look quite high. You should have a big surplus but do you? Some people recommend spending diaries, also where / how did you get the debt often understanding the overspend is necessary. Lots of women home/clothes type cards... I imagine the APRs are eye watering you need to know the APRs and snowball (over pay highest interest first). Also if you clear a card you can shuffle (they often let you BT another companies(balance transfer) higher APR debt to the now cleared and not earning them interest card at a lower APR)0 -
Thanks Barnaby bear - my son is working - but not permanent - supply teaching when he gets it - he has to pay his own rent now, so sorry to sound a softy - but he WILL be paying his own car insurance soon
how we got in to debt - its not something I'm proud of!!! I have been training to be a teacher for 6 years - needed GCSE's/A levels/degree/PGCE - took over a year to get a permanent job - and YES we lived on credit - i had been promised an inheritance - but it wasn't passed on to me!!! Had foolishly banked on it to clear our debt!! Now really paying for crap purchases :mad:DEBT free:j0 -
