anyone had a responce from HSBC?
  • Having done my application with the nice young lady in-branch last week, she sent me the forms for signature in the mail, I took them in to her on Monday [and did a BT in-branch] & my card arrived today Wednesday!! Must be my quickest-ever card to arrive!
Expect the worst & hope for the best...
  • Maybe I should have applied in person too. I applied on their website last Saturday but I've heard nothing!

Has anyone had any luck getting anything out of HSBC as an existing customer? I don't use that card much anymore but as it has the highest limit, it is always handy to keep it open.

Nope they're useless for existing custie offers IMO

MM (in the post above) mentioned that she has had offers though.

Went in to the local branch, branch manager filled in details there and then, came up with a limit of £500!!!
Politely declined. It was an instant decision - not the one I was looking for.
  • my partner rang them today they said they would let him know within 7 days a answer so gone to the underwriters. if its a £500 limit still £500 at 0% better than at 15%

I have just spent the best part of an hour being passed from department to department trying to confirm that my online application has been received and is being processed.

After speaking to no less than 8 different people (each time giving  my name, postcode, DOB etc) the best they could offer me was "It doesn't look like your application went through, I suggest you try again" Now I know I only applied a week ago, and I guess there could be delays due to the vast number of people that applied, but nobody was able to say categorically whether an application had been received or not. >:(

I did not have any problems while completing the application, and after submitting the final screen told me my application had been received, but it now seems that this may not be the case :(

If I try again and my original application was received and is being processed, will a second (duplicate)  application affect my credit rating etc.?

Not a happy bunny this morning  :'(

  • I applied in person yesterday as a brand new HSBC customer. Was only given a £500 limit due to not being on the electoral roll - obviously this year's updates have still not percolated through to the credit agencies. But the lady in the bank said they should be able to match my limit on another card (I had a statement showing my limit with me).

Bear in mind, when applying in branch that if you are a new HSBC customer you need proof of identity & proof of address. A recent bank statment and a photo driving licence worked for me :)
