All i did was cut the crusts off the bread cut them into squares butter them line up the bottom then add dried fruit and a sprinkle of sugar then add the second layer of bread and butter then dried fruit keep going until you reach the top of your dish then in a seperate bowl 2 beaten eggs and 1/2 pint of milk if its not enough to soak the bread (not right up the top)double it
As i usually make a big one (large casserole dish)
i beat 4 eggs and 1 pint of milk
pour it over
leave for an hour to soak(if your in a hurry just put it in the oven)
i put it in for about 30-40 mins on 190
hope that helps
its easy and cheap to make
i usually get good bread but when its about 10p a loaf
i havnt tried it with marmalade or chocolate but i might try it and see if the kids like itzincoxide wrote:How do I make the pudding from the start?0 -

After Christmas I had a lot of mincemeat left over so I made mincemeat sandwiches, cut them into quarters on the diagonal with the crusts cut off and stood them in a pie dish, then poured the egg custard mix over. I like lots of candied peel so I just sprinkled some over the top before it went in the oven. DH hates bread and butter pudding normally (memories of school) but even he loves thisIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
