Don't use as much egg as the recipe says as they can end up too eggy. I find they turn out best if I leave them in the fridge overnight before cooking. If you're making loads, why not try different fruits in each one? (e.g. one with sultanas, one with raisins etc.). You could also try using different spices (cinammon, mace, nutmeg etc.)

You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

  • I want to make a Bread and Butter pudding, can anyone tell me how early I should prepare it? Do i do it the earlier the better to let everything soak into the bread or will that just make it soggy so I should do it just before i want it?

    Thanks :o

Its best to make it and let it stand, but its not necessary.

I find it best to let it stand for half hour at least before cooking;)
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • I guess it depends on the recipe you use! Our DS has a superb B&BP recipe that uses Croissants, 16 eggs (!) and peaches. It is divine... but VERY rich (16 eggs also means it is v.big :)... great )

Definately it should stand for a while. For the world's richest B&BP spread bread or brioche with a good quality chocolate spread and add a little brandy or rum to the custard for VERY special occasions only.
