  • I would totally recommend Delia's chocolate bread and butter pudding - it's on her website.

Really easy to make and totally delish - even nice cold the next day!! (I always make extra so there is enough for my breakfast the next morning!)

    Hope you feel better soon

Spread your bread with butter, layer it in a dish, then sprinkle mixed fruit over it, some brown sugar and a little cinnamon if you like it another layer of bread, fruit, sugar, then a top layer of bread.

2 eggs, a splash of cream and then make up to 1/2pint with milk, beat lightly.then pour over the bread, put the dish in the fridge for about an hour to allow the liquid to soak into the bread, just before you put it in the oven sprinkle demererra sugar over the top. I cook mine in the convection micro, to cook in a normal oven Gas mark 4 reg 350F 180C for 35 - 40 minutes. To make sure it cooked slip a knife into the middle, if you get raw custard coming up, put it back in the oven for another 10 minutes. Yummy........

I have also used stale teacake cut into slices and a few cherries, then carry on the same as previously.

    Hi everyone,

I have virtually a full loaf that is about to go in the bin (it was bought too near it's use by date  ) and I wondered if I could make bread and butter pudding without cream.

I have butter, fruit, cinneman, milk, eggs etc but no cream.

    Will it work?

I've never heard of cream in a B&B pudding in my life! I guess that means it'll work

hmmmm! OK good. Ta very much.

I was going off the BBC website one which is mostly milk but also includes double cream. So I though I'd need something to replace it to thicken it up.

I'll do it without the cream and see what happens then!

    Thanks again.
