Worst ever purchase - the Tummy Tub! Awful design, difficult to use, nearly drowned little one in it
Little one hated it and it was meant to help with colic but had no effect whatsoever. Bought one of these baths instead and it was brilliant: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Summer-Infant-Bath-Tub-BLUE/dp/B00102428S/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1210952686&sr=1-10
One of those things that's supposed to clear their little noses of secretions when they've got a runny nose. Used it once and never again!
Best ever purchases: Baby sleeping bags - my DD is 3 now and has only just stopped using one. She has always been a brilliant sleeper and I put it down to using these.
I also found the Lindam Day & Night feeding system very useful: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lindam-Night-Day-Feeding-System/dp/B000UPISOU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1210953101&sr=1-1 Meant I didn't have to come downstairs during the night to warm a bottle(you're not supposed to use a microwave for warming milk as it can create "hot spots").
Also thoroughly research your pram/pushchair purchases. We had 3 until I found one that I really liked!
I agree with you about the Lindam system, it may only save a few minutes in the night, but it came in very handy indeed!
I also totally agree about the pram, I went for the M&P Pilko Pramette travel system and I hated it at first, I am just starting to get along a little better with it, but I also bought another pram later - the 'Nipper Out and About 360' which I absolutely love. It was cheaper than the M&P one too! I wish I had never bought that!0 -

Ooh, that sounds like a challenge!
As for the bottle warmer, I was out and about a lot and asking people to warm up the bottle I found very stressful - either they (cafes) didn't understand what I wanted(seriously) or couldn't use the microwave (their rules), so I had to wait by the counter like an idiot (with screaming baby) while the bottle stood in a mug of hot water. Absolutely hated it, so embarassing. Gave baby cold milk instead most of the time (bad mother).
Just remembered something I bought new, albeit on Ebay - a freedom sling. Tried it once, held tightly onto baby, never again. Just didn't get it.
Agree (me too!) about the prams - everyone I know has changed their prams/sytems/whatnots, some more than once (wasting stupendous amounts of money). I was lucky really - we walked into mothercare, I went up to the first three wheeler I saw, just to show OH what these were like and he said okay, let's get that one :rotfl:. Then he walker straight out. I hate man-shopping. Found a brand new one on Ebay though for half the price and I still love it (urban detour erm.... onyx?), maybe I'm just weird.

And those top and tail bowls-utterly useless!
Not sure why there is not much love on the thread for the baby bath-thought it was great! But then I do seem to have alarmingly small sinks!
Best thing was the rocker thing. Got through batteries like no ones business, but loved it! My mum also bought DD this jungle play mat thing with an arc of toys over the top that she loved.
Ah, memories.....making me broody! Not very MSE:D
I had a nappy wrapper and thought it was great-used it for both my babies!!:rotfl:0 -
As a mum of six aging from 30 down to 6 i can honestly say that a baby bath was my worst ever buy. Much easier to use the sink or a small washing up bowl until they can use the big bath.0

Best Buys
2nd hand Mamas and Papas pram with carrycot and seperate pushchair bought a new car seat that fitted to the chasis.
Reusable nappies
Growbags
Bath seat
Little nighties with elastic round the bottom from mothercare. Excellent for changing nappies in the night without messing with poppers!
Changing table
Maclaren buggy with adjustable handles.
The last two are useful for your back if your over standard height.
The Worst
Bumbo
Door bouncer
Moses basket
Day and Night feeder thing (I live in a bungalow its was quicker to boil the kettle)Sorting my life out one day at a time0 -
Worst buy was one of the big baby swings, it took up so much room & LO hated it. I also disliked the baby bath support (felt as if I was not close enough to her), cot sheets & blankets (bought a sleeping bag as soon as my first was big enough & the second was in them from the day she came home). Bibs! (I always use muslin's) I am sure there are more!
Best buys... baby ring to sit them in (took it on holiday beside the pool & put a fitted sheet over it to keep the sun off!), sleeping bags, breast pump (I was not able to feed myself...lazy baby & funny shaped boobs aparently!....but I expressed for the first month on both girls...100% on the first one but no 2 was very greedy & took double the reccomended amount & wanted more than I could express!)
Used on first but not on second...baby bath, I think our youngest went in once, it was just easier to pop her in with her big sister. Nappy wrapper.
I am sure I could think of lots more

Just though of another great buy, although not directly for baby!
One of the electronic photo frames. We have all our photo's on it & it is on all day every day so we get to see photo's all the time rather than just when we get the albums out. Sometimes my eldest (who is 3 1/2 now) will just lie on the sofa looking at the photo's asking questions or remembering times!
Possibly worth asking for rather than getting yet more clothes or bits that you don't need (or asking for vouchers to put towards one)
