My dog would have to eat over a pound of dark chocolate to be at risk of death. who would give a pound of chocolate to a dog? White chocolate is relatively safe as it doenst actualy contain chocolate just has traces in it.
It's not good for them but it's been exagerated over the years.
Dogs are more at risk that cats as most cats can't taste sweetness.

It's the theobromine which is toxic and yes, the darker the chocolate (higher cocoa content) the more lethal it is. I have no idea of the size of your particular dog but I've had dogs die from relatively small amounts of chocolate. One particular case was of a border collie (so weight of approx 20kg) who died after consuming a single 100g bar of 85% dark chocolate.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I don't believe a single word of that. I second the demand for webcams, photographs and audio recordings simultaneously or I won't accept it as having happened.0 -

The chart I linked to works by weight and type of chocolate. Thank you for explaining what I had already posted a link to, my dog is around 37kg.
Actualy that fits with the chart as with 100% cocoa at 20 kg of dog the figure given is 77.6g So 85% of 100g is over this. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
