I've been using Specsavers for monthly lenses for about 15 years - never had any problems or issues with them. D&A do often seem to get some bad press for being expensive. If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0

I need to get an eye test and I'd like to start buying contact lenses again. Can anyone give me a simple explanation as to how to go about it please? I really don't want to read 32 pages!
I used to get 20 pairs of daily disposable lenses every month through specsavers direct (60 pairs every 3 months sent through the post). However I was off work with a long term illness and cancelled my direct debit. I had a big backlog of lenses too as I wear my glasses when I'm staying at home (I need new glasses now too). Now I'm almost out of the lenses and I'm due an eye test and I think I'll need stronger lenses/glasses.No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -

I buy mine online. If you don't use it already sign up for www.myshoppingrewrds.com or something similar and search through there for contact lens suppliers. You will get them much cheaper direct and get cashback on your purchase.Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Do you mean that you have a contact lens prescription? if so then order on line,i recommend www.daysoft.co.uk if used them for years0

You need a current prescription. Knowing verbally is not enough. You can ask the optician you go to call your regular optician to confirm your details but they won't just sell you them on your say so.0

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to the Health board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Why not try Asda or Tesco opticians firepoppy? It's what I shall do next time.
I went off Specsavers, didn't like their attitude. I think it's because they are franchises, each branch is a mini-business and they want to protect their own income.
Tesco optician told me they are happy to give me my contact lens prescription and seem a lot more co-operative. They don't mind if I would rather buy online.0 -
Hello,
I've just changed opticians and my new guy has recommended extended-wear contacts as I do wear my contacts a lot, though I try to alternate with glasses I can sometimes be at work (two jobs) 16 hours a day.
Anyone had experiences of extended wear?
He said they would cost about £30 a month which is what I have been paying for coloured monthlies.
I've seen them cheaper on a few websites but I believe you need more follow-up care with extended wear.
The opticians I go to has a contact lense 'club' where I can sign up for a DD with no obligations, and while I'm in the 'club' I can get my glasses repaired for half-price, as they have a crack on one lense.
Does this sound like a good deal? Any advice folks?DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
I wore them for nearly 5 years but they dried my eyes up something cronic. I was forever needing drops - I eventually opted for laser surgery as the optician I changed to said there was no way I should've been wearing them for that long. Wearing glasses was my only option as he said I'd really messed my eyes up beyond repair (and no it wasn't the same optician who recommended surgery).:beer::beer::beer::beer:0
