I have seen a lot of reports online about the safety of Contact Lens solutions.
Can anyone reccomend me a good one and give me any tips to reduce my risk of infection please
Thanks

Surely your contact lens prescriber went through the after-care regime with you before sending you out into the big wide world with contact lenses?
You know where they showed you how to wash your hands before touching your eyes, how to use the solution to keep the cases and lenses clean etc etc etc0 -
Thanks Suki, yeah the personal side to things is perfect.
But there has been a number of reviews about Contact Lens Multi-Purpose Solutions failing to do the job of cleaning the lens properly.
So I just wanted to know if anyone knew any products that were better than the standard one I was given, the B&L Renu.
Thanks0 -

Thats really a completely different question altogether isnt it
Have you found any contra indications on using that brand?0 -
Sorrrrry! Just noticed how I worded that question!
Yeah, have read some bad stuff about the ReNu Solution I have, and was a little worried!
=(
It seems like MultiPurpose bottles are not reccomended?0 -
the renu problem has been addressed - the product that had a hypothetical risk has been withdrawn and the origional product (pre improvement that caused the problem) has replaced it!! if you are still unsure go back to your supplier for reassurance!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Best thing to do is stick with the one your optician recommended when they prescribed you with contacts, and if you have any queries check with them. The media is notorious for not understanding a thing about contact lenses.
The main problem with any contact lens solution is patient compliance (ie, people just don't follow instructions)
As an optician I always tell patient they MUST wash their hands before inserting or removing lenses (and don't lick your fingers to remove them like a patient I saw the other day  )
When cleaning your lenses ALWAYS rub them with the solution before storing them, even with the so-called "non-rub" solutions. It just cleans them better.
If you are still worried switch to daily disposables.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
I used to buy my lenses from Postoptics but when they stopped being able to supply the type I needed, I started buying from eyeexel.com in the US. Cheaper, good value and fantastic service. Lenses take about 5 days to arrive.
I had a direct debit with Boots for about ten years. I cancelled that. With all the money I save, if I want to see the optician urgently, it costs £35.0 -
Thinking of getting some daily contact lens and have an up to date copy of my prescription but not sure where to go. Is D&A or Specsavers better for contacts in terms of price and aftercare offered? Thanks for any advice!0

specsavers are generally the cheapest on the high street. (I work for them, and we always get patients from D&A, Boots etc. who tell us that we are cheaper for the same lenses. And if you are on the direct debit scheme the aftercare will be free.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0

Thanks for your reply, I'll give them a ring to book an assessment0
