Thanks DailyClicker. They are really comfortable all day, then in the morning when I wake up my eyes are gunky and sore. I just think my eyes aren't agreeing with a chemical in the contact lens. It is a pitty as they are really comfy. (It definitely isn't hayfever).0

I have exactly the same problem as you.
But I do also have hayfever, and they are really comfortable.
But it happens with all contact lenses with me.
When I wake up my eyes aren't always sore, but they do have a load of discharge around them.
I have put it down to the extremely long hours I wear my lenses.... around 14 hours a day!
How long do you wear them for?
It could also be an eye infection, so your best bet would be to go to the doctors and get him to check your eyes properly.... don't just allow him to open your eye lids and say take these drops.
The first time I went he said that, but the second time I made sure he checked for problems and scratches on the surface of my eye.
So after fighting off the infection, I found I still had the problem in the mornings, which were probably worsened by hay fever, so I went to the Opticians and decided I wanted to try Continuous Wear lenses which are suitable for longer use during the day.
I got Acuvue Oasys, which are extremely comfortable, whole day long unlike the Acuvue Moist! They allow more oxygen to get to your eyes as they are made of a different material which would definately benefit you if your having them problems.
But the risk of continuous wear lenses is that, eye infections are more common as you re-use the lens, but if you take care of them and follow the disinfection instructions probably you'll be fine and happier than what you was before with the dailies
Sorry this was sooo long!0 -
Hiya
Until recently (a few months ago) I used specsavers lenses. I had to stop them as I was unable to afford them but I've read on here about online contact lense stores. I have a a couple questions and if someone can answer I'll be very grateful.
1 - How do I get my details (numbers etc) from specsavers? Just ask?
2 - It's 6 months since Ive had an eye test - would it be advisable to have another before making any online purchase?
3 - I looked at contactforlenses.com and looked at the months disposible ones (I had the sort you put in each day and last a month so presumably thats right!) but theres about 30 different sort .. how would I know which ones right for me?
Any advice?!
ThanksI've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.0 -
Hiya, I bought contack lenses on line from Tesco opticians 2 years ago if it helps. Last year I got them from Optisave. I buy a years supply in one go(monthly's) and then use Tesco all-in one contact lens solution.
To buy the contact lenses on line you need the certificate for the sight test and a certificate for a contact lens check up valid in the last year. You say you had a sight test 6 mths ago so you would only be able to get the remaining 6 mths contact lenses with it. When I bought them on line I matched up the little box I had with the pictures and put in all my details from my certificate. At the time they then phoned the opticians where I had the sight test to conferm the correct size/strenth. A lot of messing about later I did get the lenses. The optician tried telling Tesco's my details were confidential ,so I went in the shop and had words....
Last year my optician knew what I was going to do...so made the certificate lens harder to buy - diffrent lens etc... not matching....So I asked in Optisave if they could buy them through their shop. They were very helpful and I bought just over the years supply from them. - Just over was to allow for any mishaps.
I am just about to buy another years contact lenses - this time I had a FREE sight test from D&A and am having the lens check on Saturday in Optisave and then also buying the lens from them.
I hope my story helps????? I belive a lot of opticians will recomend their monthly DD plan as this is whare the proffit for the shop lies?????:rolleyes:If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
I don't know if there's a law in the UK that actually prevents buying lenses without a recent eye exam - but I have ordered them off the internet simply by using the box my previous lenses came in. The necessary information is printed on them.:beer:0

Hello lawtz04
I'll move your thread to the 'Health & Beauty' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Daysoft are good (see Martin's article on contact lenses). They are daily disposables and only cost the same as the cheapest monthly disposable.
You order them online, the details you need are on the tear back lids of your lenses and their box if they are in one.
You just have to put the name and branch of your optician on the order. Daysoft do the rest. Easy peasy!
P.S. Go for the 59% water content - they're more comfortable.0 -
Wow that's 29 of the same posts....

Hello!
I have seen a lot of reports online about the safety of Contact Lens solutions.
Can anyone reccomend me a good one and give me any tips to reduce my risk of infection please
Thanks

i think most contact lenses are "safe" these days. in my experience its the cleanliness and care that one takes in placing them in and taking them out which is the likely cause of problems. i usually keep my hands and nails very clean, use a separate hand towel, and make sure case is cleaned regularly.0
