  • oh also relating to one off payments, how do you budget for them? do you put aside a proportionate amount each month so that when the time comes you have it all there?
  • hi want2bmortgage3, I'm an optician, so I'd definitely recommend that you have regular check-ups when using continuous wear lenses. It is possible that you have developed ulcers on your cornea and if you were to continue wearing your lenses you could damage your eyes, and maybe your vision.

    Of course it could just be that your eyes are drying out, and just need some wetting drops, but without examining your eyes I can't tell.

    I don't know about other opticians but I know at specsavers you could get the focus day & night lenses (branded as specsavers all day all night) for £15.50 a month, so only a couple of quid more than you are paying at the minute, and you will get your aftercare included. vbmenu_register("postmenu_13020813", true);

    Been reading this thread with interest though this is my first post, I wear glasses and have daily disposable contact lenses. As I have astigmatism in my right eye and my other eye is ok. I have to have two different types of contact lenses. I was wondering if monthlies would work out cheaper as a 30 day supply through specsavers currently cost £40. Also would the continuous wear ones work out cheaper and do they do Toric in these.
  • hi tweenie, continuous wear lenses are cheaper for sure, as you wear the same pair for a whole month, and in ideal conditions you shouldnt have to take them out at all. lenses only mine cost about £12 a month, cheap but then i don't get any aftercare. this is paid approx £70 every 6 months. however, i am thinking that i'll go to the opticians and buy through them next time, as another poster said i can do this for about £15/16 a month, which isnt a lot more for free aftercare and check ups.

    Hi want2bmortgage3...

    I'm on the same ones as you, and Ive noticed in the hot weather they dry out really quick.. So thats probally the case..

    Also..If there are any opticians out there (My opticians are reluctant to tell me anything about anything).. Is there a general daily alternative to the Air optix monthly lenses as I want to change, but they will only tell me once ive forked out £35 Grr

    Thanks alot!

    What do you mean by daily - daily disposable or wear daily and replace after a month?

  • Daily disposable sorry!
  • hi parkemitch
    thanks for your comments, yeah i think they do dry pretty quick, even if i am drinking a lot. using all in one solution as eye drops doesnt really help either. only taking them out and soaking seems to help slightly. i have to make sure i wear sunglasses if its a bright day. i'm sure there are loads of daily disposables you could use instead, wishiwasarichgirl will probably know if she's still reading!!
  • Hi...

    The reason I ask this is I tried the daysoftlense website, but mine are not listed so I called them up and they said its to do with them being a 'specialist' make and they cant do a straightforward swap etc ...

    Ive only got 1 month of Air optix left then im off!
