There is no such thing as a direct swap for one type of lens for another equivalent- Daysoft are telling porky pies if they claim otherwise. All lenses have their own fitting characteristics and differing performance on different eyes.
I agree with the previous poster that there are lot's of different dailiy disposable lenses out there, including Ciba Dailies. But please don't self prescribe - otherwise someone will have to pick up the consequences. Just go and get yourself refitted - which some places may do for free.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

hiya parkemitch, if you are wearing the air optix day&night lenses is there any reason why you want to switch to daily disposable? They will probably work out more expensive if you want to wear them every day.
You may also find that a lot of daily disposables dry out a lot quicker than the day&night lenses.
There are some that retain more moisture, like the Acuvue 1-day Moist or the Ciba Dailies All Day Comfort, but you won't really know which ones will be most suitable for you unless you have them fitted and checked by an optician, and preferably try them for a while.
Ask around, some places will do free fittings or trials (you will need to have had a sight test in the past 2 years first)Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
I finally got around to making an appointment and as from next week I am going to have monthly disposables which should cost about £12 a month instead of the £40 if i wore dailies every day0

I just wanted to thank you all for very helpful tips. I am new to all this.. I used to get my monthly lenses from an optician for £13/month but just bought a years supply of exactly same lenses from heyelight.co.uk (they are based in Germany) for £70 with free (fast!) delivery. Huge saving.0

to the last 2 posters are you talking about monthly continuous wear lenses, or do you take them out at night?
also an update on my previous post, it was definitely the heat and sunlight earlier in the month that was drying out my lenses. now we are back to 'normal' weather my contacts have been fine, no dryness or irritation.
due to the last few times i've ordered a 6 month supply and the lenses not lasting 6 months for one reason or another (its so easy to think arghh had enough of that lense and just get a new one out before the months up!), i've decided i'll leave the lenses in over a month so long as they feel comfortable. this way i wont be throwing out good lenses, im pretty sure they are ok for longer than a month, why would they say exactly a month anyway? hopefully i can get the full 6 months usage this way, even if one or two end up in the bin early. i reckon i get the odd one which is already scratched or something not quite right.0 -
hi want2b
i was talking to an optician the other day and he wore the night and day lenses he said when they were testing them initially they were tested for 1 month, then 2 months, then 3 months with continual wear. After 3 months a sign of deterioration was noted so they apparently halved the time making 1.5 months than take a little bit off for safe measure so came to the conclusion that 1 month is the safest all round.
He said he has worn them for 7 weeks before but for obvious reasons he couldnt recommend that to anyone lol.
i dont know much else about these lenses as i use dailies as i love having a fresh new pair every day.0 -

Well I picked up my monthlies yesterday and have worn them for the first day so now comes the fun part cleaning them, hopefully it should be a lot easier once I have some practice at it!!
Im glad that i enquired though just wish I had done it sooner as I could have been better off financially with them a lot sooner0 -
Hi all...new to the forum.
I'm am very short sighted and am currently with specsavers and have monthly contact lenses (they stay in day and night for a month before having to change them) delivered to my home every 3 months with aftercare and free replacement for any damaged lenses for £10.00 per month all in.
If you go to them you can ask for the different price ranges for your eyes....enquire and don't just accept the first answer.:T0
