  • the NHS will pay for his eye examination as he is under 16, he will then need a contact lens consultation (fitting) which the NHS does not fund, but if you go to an opticians which is offering a free contact lens trial then you won't have to pay for that either, so yes, he can have both for free :)

I highly recommend Specsavers, mine are FANTASTIC and always helpful.

What I have found is because I have my contacts through them (on a monthly plan, all-day-all-night lenses) I get half price glasses.

The offer can't be used in conjunction with BOGOF offers, but it's still there!!!!
Proud to be on the way to be dealing with my debt!

Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes ..

I don't think my current contact lens strength is right cos I can't read small print. I had my eye test and contact lens test about 6 months ago at D&A. My eyesight hasn't got worse since then, I thought then 'these aren't strong enough'. Anyway forget the old - all I need to know is, if I go to an optician in the expectation that my current prescription is wrong, do I have to have just an eye test, or just a contact lens test, or do I need both ? I'm not bothered about going back to D&A and complaining. I'll go somewhere new but just need to know which tests I'll have to do again. Thanks.

if in doubt, get an eye test again - if you wanted to get new lenses you'd probably need to show a prescription, but the one you have got you the wrong lenses in the first place!

    Hi,

I was wondering if I could have some advice on whether or not I'm getting the best deal for my lenses.

I am currently using monthly lenses from boots and pay £14 a month by direct debit for lenses and solution. I was wondering if anyone had a better suggestion for me?
I've just looked online at the specsavers offer of 6months for £28.50 which seems much better but how do you tell which lenses to order if you are used to boots ones, do you need to go through the whole contact lense consultation with specsavers again?

    Thanks
  • hey Brodel, all opticians use contact lenses from the same handful of suppliers, but most of the big High Street Opticians re-brand them under their own name, so there is a good chance that your lenses are available from Specsavers (or elsewhere) under a different name.

If you take the packaging into Specsavers they may be able to tell you, or post all the details on here and I can try to find out (eg UV55, BC8.4 diam14.4 etc, whatever is written on the packs will help identify them)

Thanks wishiwasarichgirl, I've only just signed up at boots today and currently have my trial lenses still so I don't have the packaging but will post back when I do. Thanks again.

    Hi guys!

I was just wondering if anyone on here knows how much the Boots scheme for monthly disposable soft lenses is. I currently pay £10 a month with specsavers, but just wanted to see if boots is any better when you include advantage points..?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Anyone know where I can get contacts from for delivery intime for this Saturday?

If I walked into optical express (who I cancelled my direct debit a month ago with) would they give me a pair even though I need updated prescription since its changed to -2.00 from -1.50
