i use the johnsons daily accuvue torics and they are great, they now do johnsons moist torics and i have tried these and dont like the feel on my eyes of the lens material - like the op i dont wear them for work as they are not good with my enviroment (aircon in my case) i have tried the 2 weekly torics from johnsons (advance and oaysys) and the cleaning is a pain although they were better with the aircon - i have also tried the oasys toric as an extended wear lens (sleep in and change every week) but found them impossable to sleep in on the 3rd night as they were becoming deposited and uncomfortable. i get eyestrain and headaches very quickly with non toric lenses ... i will stick to whatever works for me and wear glasses for work!!

I wear toric lenses but not for work as I don't find them great for long term PC work. I get mine on a direct debit scheme from Specsavers but will probably switch soon to an online service so if you don't mind I've kind of hijacked your thread to see if anyone has any recommendations. x

Thanks for the replies. Ah, I only need them for one eye so maybe I can get 30 for one eye and 30 torics for the other and it will not be as expensive. Great, glad I posted now. I find I can only wear the 14.2 otherwise the lens flips up whenever I blink and catches on my bottom eye lid. vv annoying!!

Ask away VALM, the more recommendations the better!!

I ordered some prescription sunglasses not long ago on the internet and my sight prescription is around minus 7.5 in each eye (very high). I managed to order them with thinned down lenses - my optician wanted to charge me over £300 quid for these. I used online glasses direct and they got my lenses into a medium sized aviator frame and even got the lenses to look fairly good in them. Best thing is, I paid just over £100 - result!! I suppose most of the glasses retailers can offer this type of service - you just gotta find one that you like the look of.
Just beware of some of the scam sites out there. I was browsing a site called 'perfect glasses' only to find out that they had two other sites called 'exclusive eyes' and some other weird named site. I originally ordered mine from them and they still hadn't arrived over 4 weeks later. needless to say I contacted paypal and managed to get my money back.

i have used glassesonspec several times and found them to be superb- it only took 2 days for my glasses to be returned to me, reglazed! not sure if they're the cheapest out there though as i haven't done my research :o
  • I purchased two pairs of glasses from my prescription via selectspecs, brilliant - took about 3/4 weeks but very pleases and awaiting sunglasses now. my first two pairs were less than £50 - sunglasses around the £50 mark.
the only dissapointed ones were specsavers!!:rotfl:

is there an asda optitions near you then thin for free and I think you get 2 designer pairs for £99 .Hubby always has his lenses thinned and up till last time then cost an arm and a leg. Hes really happy with the asda pairs says its the best he's ever had.

I have also used selectspecs - a couple of pairs at £5 each and they are fine. I have now ordered a more "funky" looking pair just for fun since they were only a fiver. I think the cheap ones range from -6 to +6 prescription range. There is another site which only sell their £5 specs in -2 to +2.

Hi there, I just just have a quick question...

My daughter has just come back from travelling and took with her 9 months supply of Acuvue Moist Daily lenses that she bought from D&A. As she has spent every last penny, she can't afford to sign up to the D&A monthly scheme again as it is too dear but she knows her prescription hasn't changed.

Do you think that she would be able to use one of the Internet sites in order to get her lenses without going to the optitions again for a check up? She knows her prescription already but as previously mentioned in this thread, D&A do not give you a written lense prescription so I am not sure if this would be needed in order to get them sent out.
Also, do you know the cheapest place to get Acuvue Moist lenses?

    Thanks!
