If Tesco wanted to see you again in 3 months time, then surely they shouldn't have sold you a six month supply?
Specsavers want to see me again in three months, but explained they want to keep tabs of some dry patches on my eyes. She also explained they wouldn't be able to supply me after that date without a check.0 -
I've been wearing the same Bausch&Lomb daily disposable lenses for about a decade. I buy them in the States when I go to visit my parents. The problem is that I have to get a contact assessment test every year. It's the same prescription each time. Still, like clockwork, I have to get the test, otherwise no one will fill the prescription.
I'm trying to find the cheapest way of doing this. I don't want to sign up for a DD with D&A or Specsavers. Neither offers a very good deal on the lenses. Also, Specsavers mis-sold me their own-brand lenses, claiming they were identical to the B&L ones. I no longer trust them.
What are my other options? Where can I get the cheapest contact assessment without committing to buying lenses from them? I really don't want to spend 40 quid on a five-minute test when I know the results ahead of time.0 -
i work for specsavers, ours is £20.
as for "knowing the results ahead of time", the end prescription is only a small part of the check up. the important part of the eye test is checking the health of your eyes! although you might not seem to think it, it is actually rather important - you see out of the, after allMummy to

Thanks for the info. I do get my eyes checked every one-two years when I get new glasses. I'd like to think that if there was something seriously wrong, the optometrist would catch it then. The contact check feels very much like a formality, coupled with a hard sell.
Maybe I've just been going to the wrong places. My dentist is just as bad with trying to up-sell services I don't want or need.0 -
Asda opticians if there is one near you.
The service is FAB! You will pay £15 for an eye test if you haven't had one in 6 months, then you buy the lenses from their website - BARGAIN!

Unfortunately, there isn't an ASDA optician near me. Not a Tesco optician, either. They don't seem to have them in central London.0

I get my contacts from specsavers for £13, I'm sure I've had a test in the last year.
I'm not keen on their solutions, after no problems for a long time with vision express I was on the cheapy specsavers ones which hurt my eyes, they bumped me up to elite at extra cost and that does too.
I can't remember what lens they recommended me but they substituted them for the specsavers version pretty quick. I also used to wear the monthly green freshlook coloured one..
Where's the best place to look online? How cheap will I find coloured prescription freshlook ones?
Thanks!0 -

I use Postoptics usually. to be honest I only need a 3 month supply to last a year cos I can't wear them for work. However, I ordered some Daysoft for my son (no prescription required!) because he wanted to see if he could wear them. He couldn't get the hang of it even with the optician's help previously and they were so cheap that it didn't matter if we wasted them trying!
Further to an earlier post, I actually wear them in one eye and my much stronger one in the other eye. It works nearly as well as varifocals and I don't need to carry reading glasses!
I'm due to order some lenses today and am seriously weighing up the cost options. Daysoft are manufactured in Scotland so I can't see a problem. Any advice out there?0
