If you want to read a book that your library doesn't stock you can do a reservation. It only costs about 75p and they will send you a letter whenh it arrives and you can go and pick it up from yuor local library (cheaper than buying the book!)

I don't know why more people don't use their local libraries. Some of my friends buy new books all the time at vast costs and although i keep telling them to go to the library they don't seem to take it on board.

  • This week so far I've continued to log our electricity use
checked the actual gas reading against the bill that's just turned up
Stewed up some apples that my Mum in Law gave me at the weekend
used some courgettes and tomatoes that she gave me also
Done a £50 shop at Tesco to get my 5p off fuel voucher, but used a £6 off £30 spend voucher to bring the total to under £50 :j
Started the tedious process of decoprating the spare room
Started processing my shots from my brother In law's wedding at the weekend - they are going into a photo book for their wedding pressie
Used more from the freezer for meals ready to do a farmers market shop on saturday
Piggy clicks - such as they are this week with NO CT's. :(
I drove back from the wedding on Saturday night to save on an expensive hotel rom and also cut cost on drinks as I'd have been drinking vodka if I'd not been driving!

On Saturday we have a cheapish afternoons entertainment as we're off to the rugby using OH's best friends seasons ticket for harlequins. :D

I use them regularly, but this one was out of print & unavailable. I agree, libraries are great :j , the only time I buy books is when they are reduced to 10p in charity shop - then I can take on holiday & swap in hotel library for more :T .
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • I always get my books from the hospice shop. I know if I get books from the library I tend to forget to return then on time and then get hit with fines, so I buy from the hospice shop (a good cause) and then pass them on to my Mum, who passes them to my Aunt, who passes them to a friend, etc etc.

On a training course at work, they supply buffet lunch, so no packed lunch for me today.:D

I have my martial arts class tonight though, so it won't be a NSD.

I'm going to tidy out the tins and packets cupboard this weekend, to see what we need for it instead of stocking up on a couple of everything like I normally do when it's running low...

  • Well I am on a day shift today so financially it is an easy day (12 hr shift). I brought my lunch with me so should have a NSD today at elast that is my aim.

Two night shifts after today once again should not be too difficult for me.

I brought my lunch to work yesterday but there were sandwiches left over from a meeting so they are still in the fridge waiting to be eaten today. My mobile is also charging up here (more to do with the battery being ready to run out than actually planning to charge it here to save money).

I have also switched energy suppliers to Scottish Power on a fixed price deal until next September. Thankfully I did this before the most recent price hike.

I need to get my car insurance sorted out this weekend so I'll be hitting the price comparison websites with a vengeance.

  • Did the Tesco-run on the way home from work tonight - stuck to my list with the exception of a couple of items on special offer which were too good to pass up.
stopped at the Petrol station on the way out (car was running on fumes by this stage!) and squeezed every last drop of diesel into it so I could get the maximum benefit from my 5p a litre voucher from last weeks shop.
I've sold some photos this week as well - to a friend so not full rates but it's still another few ££'s for Pigasus the mortgage pig. He got an extra £1.50 last night too as I resisted the temptation to stop at the garage on the way back from speedway and buy a bottle of diet coke and a packet of crisps! :A
Sunday should be a cheap day I hope. although thanks to discovering that our dear predecessors in the flat had helpfully wallpapered before they put the coving up, we now have to replace the coving in the spare room! other than that though it will be a day of batch cooking and baking, and a bit more decorating. (Walls are almost completely stripped now - just a few hard-stuck bits to get rid of - once the coving is taken down we can finish the tops and then hopefully get the lining paper up.
No speedway this week either so I'll use less diesel. Nearly the end of the season - mileage drops dramatically in the winter!
