I feel like I'm having a very frugal month but my leftover budget doesn't seem to be showing that! Not quite sure what's happened but I think maybe I've been getting my own cash and work expenses mixed up. I really need to sit down and get it straight before going shopping on Saturday.

Today I went to Aldi at lunchtime to buy some cycling overshoes and managed to leave without buying anything else:j .

I've brought lunch in 3 out of 4 days so far and only succumbed to the chocolate machine once.

I used a 3for2 text offer for my dry cleaning but it still seems expensive. Can't go to meetings looking scruffy though:rolleyes: .
  • I brought my lunch today and I recycled a telephone thru Quidco which raised £15 approx.

I am also having a NSD today.

  • I haven't posted all this months little bits yet. I joined the NSD challenge and today will be day 14 of my target of 16 days out of 20. The only thing not included in it is the paying my rent day. Could exceed target at this rate.

    This week:
I negotiated £1,000 off the house price for essential repairs so that's going to be a big help.action-smiley-033.gif

More cheese on toast and meals I made from scratch taken from the freezer.

Wearing my oldest, tattiest clothes before consigning them to a new life as floor cloths and filling for door draught-stopping sossidges.

Sorted and boxed up items to be e-bayed after we move house.

Picked up more MS tips from here this morning.angel-smiley-002.gif

After the jobs for today are done I'm going to go back to embroidering the picture for MIL 's Xmas present.

went to Lidl , but only bought things that I knew were cheaper there than Tesco

went for a walk on the beach and foraged some seakale (not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet!)

found 2p on the road - DD10 said "that's going straight into Mortimer isn't it?"
    weaving through the chaos...
  • counted up the contents of "Pigasus" - £40 - went down to Nationwide and paid that, and the 94p cheque for that phone I sent away into the joint account - will be transferred to the ISA later on.

Diverted slightly on the way home from OH's rugby match yesterday to save 5p a litre on the price of diesel locally - hard to believe just a few miles down the way it's that much cheaper.

Two boxes of blackberries picked this afternoon - and came back from our favourite picking location to go past a cottage where I knew they were selling cooking apples so got 6lb of those for £1 too!

I have negotiated with my Mum to come over for a Sunday in a couple of weeks to help us with the main push of this spare room decorating - we'll give her lunch and tea in exchange. She's also going to let us store some boxes in her loft for the time being so that will free up some more space here.

  • I made crumble out of apples and blackberries that I picked for nothing. Hooray. Strictly speaking this wasn't today but yesterday but I still want credit for it :)

very tasty, though when using whatever apples you find rather than cooking apples go easy on the sugar. I used less sugar than suggested but not enough less I don't think. Next time I will know better.

    WARNING RAMBLE !!!!!!!

Never seen this thread before and am very excited by it ( I am very sad I know). At present we are only repaying 25% of our mortgage and 75% is interest only which is rubbish so when our mortgage changes in Feb we have decided we must stretch ourselves to 100% repayment an extra £200 a month. We spoke to our mortgage advisor and he has told us the interest rate had risen so much that we will be paying an extra £260 a month just to be paying the same 25% we are now so a bit gutted, and hoping desperatley that rates will go down in the next 10wks :o.

But this thread will really keep me motivated and remind me that pennies really do make a difference so thanks for starting and posting on this thread.

Today I have spent about £2.45 but to be honest I didn't need to spend this and it was on treats we didn't need, but other wise I took my lunch into work and have arranged to do an extra 3hrs work minimum a week for 8 wks. This is all going to pay off our new kitchen then the mortgage will get a beating big style I want 100% repayment no matter what !!!!!!

    Ramble over !!!!

I have now read 8 pages of this thread and feeling very motivated, also doing my Asda shop online which is good timing to do it when feeling so keen to save money so buying no extras at all. Thanks for all the info everyone has posted I'm really going to pull the purse strings in again

NSD today - have decided to aim at 2 days a week, as that seems realistic, as there always seems to be some little thing I don't think of. E.g. yesterday would have been a NSD, except I paid my eBay fees.
    Also today -
    brought lunch in from home,
    posted credit card payment,
added to my next Tesco.com order using my "Favourites on Offer" to stock up on what's currently cheaper, and cut out some alternatives.
