  • I have managed to persuade my 13 yo son that a pack up is better for him than buying lunch at school so that saves me having to give him £2.50 a day - £15 a week!!!

I was so please that he agreed to do this that I promised him some Rockport boots for school - luckily I found some on Amazon for £28 - bargain as they are normally £100ish!! I pointed out to him that having a pack up for two weeks has paid for the boots and he seemed mightily impressed!! Told him that any spare money I have left over each month goes into the mortgage account to pay it off earlier and he seemed happy with that!!

I'm so glad to see an MFW version of this thread.

    Today I have:
    - made my own lunch so no spending £3 for Boots meal deal
    - spoken to my best friend to explain how to turn my hot water on for me so I can turn it off while I'm on hols for the next couple of weeks and he'll turn it on again the day before I come back (it's economy 7 and the daytime booster doesn't work so usually I leave it hot while I'm away so I can have a nice bath as soon as I get back).
    - I'm currently making rolls for lunch for the next few days.
    - have decided that I don't need the nice dress I saw in New Look at the weekend so won't be going back to buy it tomorrow as I'd planned.
    - Made sure I was online at 8am to enter the Glamour competition in the hopes of winning something I can sell
    - Handed in my on-call form at work to make sure I get paid for the hours I've done this month - half the money from that will go into overpayments.
    - Am trying to plan meals for the next few days so I can use up what I have in and not need to go food shopping again until after my holiday.
    - I'm just about to send Nationwide a message to see about changing my term so my regular payment goes back up to £650 a month (what it was before the interest rates came down).

Unfortunatley not quite a no spend day as I was tired and fed up at work this morning and went to visit the sandwich lady and bought a flapjack for 80p.

Wow, that looks like lots now I've written it down :)

To add to what I have done, I listed some books on Amazon and have already sold my first one. One I had given to me when I was taking my professional exams several years ago so didn't cost be anything, but has just sold for £11.74. yippeee

    Great ideas for MFW motivation!
    • It has been a no spend day for me.
    • I had leftovers for lunch today (worked from home).
    • I have received my AQA payment, still waiting for my day job invoice payment though.
    • I have packaged up more ebay sales (made over £150 this time which is going toward our trip to Berlin in July!) - more to follow this weekend.
    • I am having a leftovers pizza tonight while OH is out with pals - just waiting for the dough to finish in the BM!
    • I am waiting to see what my bank balance by the time the invoice is paid, then I will transfer "spare cash" to my offset.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Today I have:

    - had a no spend day :j :j :j :j apart from work expenses

    - fixed my spreadsheet which shows how much I have paid off mortgage, when it will be cleared etc. Was fiddling about last night, obviously deleted some really old formula or link but didn't notice so saved it  . Had a hell of a fright this morning when I opened it up to check something icon_pale.gif. Have managed to get it back approximately right (it has the same pay off date as before) but need to check this month's balance. Have lost all 100% accurate figures for previous few months but it was backed up in Jan so at least start data for challenge is all ok :T .
Will be backing up more regularly in future :o......
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

    Hello All,

    Today I have/will:
    • Paid £6.15 off my mortgage to round it down
    • Have a no spend day bar a pre arranged riding lesson and a pint of milk
I hope that people find this thread useful. Due to various family and work commitments, I am not going to be reliably able to set up a new "each day" version like they do on DFW, so could we stick to this one thread? If anybody else would like to start it on a daily basis, that is great too.

    Good morning fellow MFW

    Today I have /will
    • Take a packed lunch to work
    • Carry out £10 mystery Shop
    • Have defrosted some chicken breasts and found some tortilla wraps in the freezer (3 packets with 1 or 2 in them I knew one day I would have enough to make a meal out of:D ) Instead of takeaway:rolleyes:
    • Not put the heating on at all from now until September
This is such a great thread to keep me motivated and also gives me new ideas from others......Thanks:beer:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

    Today I have/will:
    Accepted a mystery shop - £10

    Line dried washing

Will walk to post office/supermarket rather than taking the car. I went to the local Spar which is more expensive but I only spent £2.11 whereas I would have spent at least a tenner on stuff I don't really need if I had gone to the supermarket!

It's "sweetie day" for DS & DD so I'll buy them from the supermarket rather than taking them to the corner shop which always end up costing me a fortune

Keep going with the thread - it's great!
