RedRuby - how about taking a broom and 'sweeping' the grass at arm's length first? That should force out any lurking frogs. It must be horrible to be kept inside during the day by them. My maybug fear only keeps me indoors after dusk (when they seem to become active) and then only during May. My DH laughs because I only fear them from 1st May and I feel safe to go out again at dusk from 1st June! As if they stick rigidly to the calendar! I did get once get chased by a stag-beetle and, when we went camping in France years ago, a huge locust chased me into the tent! I watched the second Indiana Jones film that I had recorded last night and couldn't look when they did the insect scene!

    Anyway, I do sympathise, honestly.

My mum suggested that, but honestly I can't get within 20 - 30 ft of them, if I don't know they are there I am ok, but I now know one is lurking there are probably more, its a conspiricy (sp) they are planning an ambush. I have been out in the back garden today, as thats a lot clearer, so the front can wait till the weekend when OH is here to deal with the blighters :D

You made me laugh about the Maybugs and the dates :D , do they have calenders in Maybug land ?

And I am really sorry but the stag beetle chasing you really made me laugh :rotfl: :rotfl:

Its funny what different people are scared off, me frogs, you maybugs and I think it was stefjb's daughter was scared of stickers. We all have our little fears, I suppose thats what makes us human

On another forum I go on, there are a few people who have vertigo and/or fear of heights... other forum members think it's hysterically funny to post pics of bridges arching over massive canyons and so on!

Hi Mellika, good to see you back! :hello:

I'm pleased with myself at work cos I've just worked out how to make the bullets and numbering in a word document do PRECISELY what I want them to :D :j :j Tiny things for tiny minds :D...

    Welcome back Mellika!

Hi RedRuby - people are scared of many different things. Stef's DD's fear of stickers must be another one that is hard to live with because stickers are everywhere in one form or another, aren't they? At least I don't have to face the Maybugs all year round; my other fear - which is totally irrational - is big ships like supertankers and war ships but that's another thing I don't have to face head on. I can go on the ferry easily because you go in through the back but I can't stand being alongside it! My DH is scared of dead fish heads  - and wasps, which is understandable because I've seen them chase him. He goes completely doollally in France when the hornets buzz him, which they do, frequently! He seems to attract buzzing things!

I have two friends who are terrified of birds and my DS2 and a friend who are scared of moths. At least mine are things that I don't have to cope with every day. I do hope you can keep your garden frog-free!

Ruby like miorliere said people are scared of many things, my dh is terrified of Needles, which seems strange as hes covered in tattoos!!
But his fear is so bad that when he needs blood tests i have to pretented we are going shopping and just turn up at the heath centre and physically drag him in, if i manage to get him that far, he breaks out in cold sweats, shakes alot and cant breath, we have to get the nurse to put a fan on and lie him down, and sometimes we have to hold him down and then he has to have chocolate or sweets to stop him passing out!!!!
He says the tattoo thing is a differnet feeling which is why till i saw his fear first hand i didnt belive he could be scared!!

Not got much done today really sorted out some paperwork, but my big news of the day is me and dh are going out at the weekend....ALONE...No kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This will be the first time in years we have done this, 2 kids will still be in Malta and the other 2 are staying at their friends overnight, so we are planning a walk to the local for drinks then a cheap takeaway and film, i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!

Catznine...you would recommend dehydrator then? Had loads of apples last year and gave lots away rather than waste, dried some in oven, but would consider investing in dehydrator if they work well;Marie

Marie I have only just got mine and only used it a couple of times, so early days, but I am already hooked.and the cinnamon apple slices are yummy. The banana slices have come out very sweet and yummy too. Not sure about the bramleys I think I did them for too long as they are a bit crisp. I have pears in there at the moment, fingers crossed, it is a big learning curve for me, no one in my family or group of friends has one so I am grateful for the threads on here.

Well the ironing mountain has shrunk! I have started another baby bonnet, I think I am now addicted to knitting, so relaxing (if the pattern is easy). Later today I must plant out the runner beans I have soaking and tomorrow I have 8 bags of compost being delivered (free delivery):j

    Hello all

Not a good day...........phone call from ex foster girl to say her house caught fire last night........all the upstairs is ruined....bedding, clothes towels and stuff and the rest is dark sooty and a mess. Thankfully she and her OH are ok and thats the main thing but its such a shame. They only moved in a year ago...........least they're insured so will be ok but it was a bit of a shock to say the least.
Builder chappie still working away and making a lot of noise but least the roof is now done. Thursday hes starting on the inside wall where the plaster fell off when we had the earthquake so I get a day off from all the banging about tomorrow..........lol

Turned a bit chilly today............the east winds are blowing.......back to wolly jumpers

Hope you're having a good day and hugs (((((((((:o ))))))))))) to those who need them
