OS Daily Tuesday 13/5/08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th May, 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before y ou go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread
after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Goodmorning everyone,

You can sleep in this morning, it's all taken care of 9Neav. ;) Had a fairly busy morning today. Made a loaf of bread, milo biscuits and I've got the beetroot relish on simmering now. Smells vile. I hate beetroot. Off to see DGS later this arv and then going for a trot around the island. I saw some oranges dropping off a tree yesterday and nobody seemed to live there, so will case the joint again this arv. :D I'll take a bag. You never know.

I'll be out most of the day tomorrow. I've got a vegetarian chilli in the Slow Cooker. I had to put a bit of sugar in it as it was too hot. Tastes nice now though. I'll serve it with some rice dish from More From Less Cookbook. Lemon Delicious & custard for dessert. I suppose I better go and conquer Mt Ironing. I should have read yesterday's thread to refresh my memory but I didn't. So <hugs> to those that need them.

Have a lovely day. Will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning AUSSIELASS - good luck with the orange raid - just make sure your bag isn't marked with the word 'swag!

SMOKY - (((hugs))) to you and LOs.

PENPIN, JAYWARD and MRS MIX'S Dad - wishing you all a better day today.

DONNY-GAL - hope your cold is on the way out, now.

Well, another lovely start to the day I think; it's breezier than yesterday which will make it seem less humid, hopefully.

I need to get to the bank today and then I'll pop into one of the local charity shops; it closed down for refurbishment last week and was sorely missed! I have some quotes to type out for DH and some other paperwork to do. Dinner is an easy one - battered fish from the freezer with new potatoes and salad followed by Manchester Tart left over from yesterday. I shall also make a bread-and-butter pudding with some bread that's gone stale.

Well, can't think of much else to say - which is unusual for me, I know!

    See you all later.

Morning, I cought up with D/Hwives whilst waiting for the thread to start, I love that program.
BM has been on an hour, went to sit on the patio but it's a bit breezy. Lentils soaked overnight so soup for lunch.
I plan to empty 1 of the bedrooms as I want to do a makeover, think it's gonna take longer than 60 mns ! I've ordered some patchwork bedspreads from the Cotswold Co. they do beautiful stuff, a bit expensive but they will last for years. Also some furniture, chest of drawers and b/side cabinets, they're beachwood with painted drawers in ivory. Will order new carpet. I'm going for the shabby chic look. Not much MSE but it's 6 years since the last makeover, so time for a change.
Got to go into town and get some swatches to make curtains. A lot of work to be done but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
Will go and catch up on Mon. thread.

Hope all have a good day. see ya later.

Morning. Looks to be another dry sunny day.

I was very angry last night to find that wild rabbits had got in to the veg patch and eaten every lettuce, brussells plant, corn, the lot. what's the point even bothering?
I have pacthed up the fence, but the lengths I am going to, to fight the bugs, weather, bunnies and other critters is it really worth growing anything?

Last day of work today and then 3 days off. Very welcome.

    Morning everyone.
Long time since i posted, just havent got round to it.
Im enjoying having just 2 children at home, ds1+3 are in Malta, they have been for a week now, a wow does it make a difference, the house is tidy all washing and ironing is done and im spending less on food!! Know which two kids are messy and eat the most now lol.
Ds2 started his SATS yesterday, he really cool about it, mainly because i tell him it is not important to him, only to the school, and that as long as he trys his best thats all that matters.

The wonderful weather looks like it has gone here, cool and windy and dull this morning, but we have had the best weekend, got the pool out and had 2 days just sat in garden soaking up the sun. I even got in the pool so it must have been hot!!!

Diet is still going really well iv lost 15.5lb in just 7 weeks, i feel so much better even had my tankini on in garden at weekend!!!!

Moneysaving wise, we have cut the sky down for the summer now the footy season has finished saving us £18 just for dropping the sports channels, renewed my car insurance and saved £185 just from shopping around, so things are looking up in the money dept.

Today i plan to sort some ebay items out and clean the bathroom, and make a lamb dinner.

Hope you are all ok, hugs to everyone.

    Good morning everyone!

Unfortunately, DS's football team didn't win the cup final - the boys from Doncaster were twice as big as those in his team  ;) He did get a trophy, and played very well.

I'm cycling to w*** today - looks perfect for it. DH is out for a meal with colleagues, so the children and I are having carbonara for tea.

Any news from Pippa D

Hester - that's HUGE NEWS  :j :T Will you get another lodger?

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Morning all
Another sunny day here, WM is on & so is the DW.
BIL got through another night & has a solicitors appointment for Wednesday, he feels well enough to go alone this time. He went home for a few minutes last night & collected more clothes, so tonight I need to clear more wardrobe space.
The really big news is KATY IS LEAVING IN JUNE!!!
She is going home to do a course, she was hoping to skip the course & just do the exam, but she got an email last night telling her she has to do the course first & then take the exam. What will I have to talk about when she leaves, lol.
    Hugs to all.

    Morning one and all.

It looks like another good day down here atm weather wise. I'm back from my hols and it was probably the best break I've had in many years. I managed to see all the family while I was up in Sheffield, all apart from big bro who lives in Eire but I might catch him soon. The best part of the break though, and it's got me :j , was meeting up with a girl that I've known for some time but never actually met. To say we hit it off is the understatement of the year and I now feel like I've found what I've spent all my life looking for. I feel happier now than I ever have and it's safe to say that once I get things sorted out down here, I'll be on the move northwards again.

Hope no-one minds me sharing the news but as you might imagine, I'm incredibly happy at the moment :D:D:D:D:D

Take care all, have as safe a day as poss and my thoughts are with anyone in need.

    Man try :D

OH came out of hospital yesterday :j :j :j Looks like be brought half the pharmacy back with him  thank goodness you don't have to pay prescription charges on the stuff from hospital it would've been value beans for us for the week!!

Today I will be playing nurse and if OH is up to it we might get out for a bit with the girls. Other than that the washing is all up to date because the weather has been so lovely so just need to clean the bathroom and get the towels washed and out on the line.

Hope everyone has a lovely day :D
