I am writing this as a joint effort bewteen me and my partner.

At the height of our endebtedness (march 06) we owed the following:

    Egg Credit Card 1025 (me)
    Halifax Credit Card 1070 (me)
    Barclaycard 280 (me)
    Dotty Ps Card 167 (me)
    Overdraft 770 (me)
    Halifax Loan 1. 12450 (Boyfriend)
    Halifax Loan 2. 7829 (Boyfriend)
    Lloyds TSB loan 8700.48 (Boyfriend)
Bringing our grand total to £32291.48

    Fastforward 2yrs 2months

We have paid off all except the Halifax loan 1 (which there is about 10000 left on) and the lloyds loan (which has about 4000 left on it)

We have paid off 18291.48 in 2yrs 2 months and hope to be debt free by march 09
(Well, I say "we". as you will notice all of MY debts are gone so really I am debt free but this is a joint effort and I really should take some creit for our acheiviment!!!)

Oh and this doesn't include our mortgage either...one step at a time eh? I am 23 and my partner is 26 x

    I have at the moment;

    Student OD with Natwest: £1300
    Student Loan: approx £10k

I am currently paying Uni £25 a week to pay back Student Fees (for being there four weeks!! Dont get me started!)

I am only paying £10 a month into my OD, which isn't alot. Does it sound like a good idea to, when I have finished paying uni back (at end of july) to use that £25a week to start paying my OD back?

If I do that, I will have OD paid off in 12 months.

    xx

  • I am new to the site and very nervous!

£80000.00, not sure when or how to be paid off!

We have £80000. in credit card and loans, if I say it quickly it does not hurt as much. Most in my O/H name due to trying to fund a business (which has now gone bump) but thats another story.

I have to say it has made me feel a bit better reading all these replies to see that we are not the only ones with debts.

Situation at the moment is very grim, both of us now jobless with two children to look after and have no idea where the next penny is coming from. Needless to say I feel sick with worry, cannot think of anything else and desperate to sort this mess out (if we can). I will be contacting one of free debt counsellor that are mentioned on these sites tomorrow to see if they can help us. Fingers crossed for us.

Thank you to everyone that has been honest.

    Good luck to you all.

Me and OH have £63k of debt, excluding mortgage. Property is on the market as I speak, we do have some equity in it that we can throw at the debt and we will be going into rented. Be quite nice not having a mortgage to worry about for a while. We have been in touch with CCCS and they have recommended a DMP so I have the paperwork, just need to fill it all in. We also have an appointment with the CAB this week as well - just to get more info. Will feel better when its all up and running, we need a plan!!

Good luck to everyone on here. :)

I am £12970 in debt and am hoping to get it paid off in 34 months through a DMP. I am going to try and get it paid of within 24 months if possible.

About £70k not including mortgage. Should be debt free by 2014 but we are in well paid jobs and get annual payrises so hopefully it will be earlier. We have just started the DMP process with CCCS and waiting for our information pack.
