Combined, we owe £46k.
£5300 is my debt spread over 2 credit cards and 2 overdrafts.
My OH owes the remainder on a loan, credit cards and overdrafts. We pay off what we can each month - £2.5k this month as OH had a bonus. Probably £1500 next month and subsequent payments will be greatly reduced as I go onto maternity benefits. How long it takes to pay off depends on how well I control things but I'm aiming between 3 and 5 years.Mummy to DS May 08 and DD Oct 09
Started joint IVA in Nov 09 - 13 payments down 47 to go!

As per my sig I've got over £21k in debt, £19k on credit cards and a £2k overdraft that the snowball calculator today says will take me until Feb 2011.
Two months ago my debt free date was April 2011 but what I've been doing is any time I save money or have anything extra, no matter how small, I log on to the bank and send a transfer to a credit card. It's amazing how quickly the £1 and £2 amounts add up!Cleared £23,848.22 of debt between Jan 2008 and September 2009. Now a saver rather than a spender!0 -
Hi, currently about £2700 on cc and about £800 on a loan - hoping they will both be gone by the end of september but finding I'm messing it up the closer it gets...I DON'T NEED A HOLIDAY shall become my new mantra!
It's true what mustangsally says though...Every little helps.Mortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Hi, we owe about 40000 unsecured 38000 secured loan and 80000 mortgage (wow scary when you see it wrote down) currently dealing with CAB who are setting up a dmp don't quite know how it will work but will probably be paying forever.
Can't quite grasp the snowball thing (cant afford to pay what it tells me too, stupid i know must be using it wrong)0 -
I've divided our debt into sections so it's less depressing having mini hurdles.
Little debts; £4,335 remaining - snowball says end of 2009 - aiming to cut that back into 2009 somewhere.
Loans; £10k-ish remaining - will be finished Mar 2010
DMP; £29k remaining - snowball says August 2019 - aiming for ??? (will look at after loans are done)
Mortgages; £129k - think they end in 2020 - aiming for earlierNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
I have £21000 of debt left to pay, down from £35000 last august. I was hoping to pay it off before im 30 in june 2010, but as im not sure how my maternity pay will work i think it may take an extra year.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0

Hi lisabell,
It's nice to see others are in the same predicament, it feels so lonely. I hid the problems we had from my disinterested husband; now he's sorry he was quite so disinterested. Unfortunately we have got £40318 in unsecured debts and a mortgage of £47700 over 7 years, we are still talking about what to do and still be cornered by the bank to have a brdging loan that will cost £650 in charges and have a re-mortgage extending it to 12 years and doubling the payment. My husband is 10 years older than I, so now we face debt into his retirement and it's all my fault for being stupid enough to ignore the problem feeling secrue in the fact the bank were giving me the three overdrafts of £10000, so really I deserve the mess I am in.
i have contacted payplan, but am waiting to hear and again the bank have given us another deadline by tomorrow or my husbands credit scoring will be affected, because I have put cheques from credit cards into the account to survive. I am in limbo, but when I start sorting myself out I hope to make up for all the stupid decisions I've made and work every hour I can in overtime to sort it out, it will be a shock form my children who are used to having me around most of the time and awake, their life will change so much when I'm exhausted from nights and not able to be at their beck and call. Goo dluck with your debts, every day I take hope things will get sorted without adding to my mortgage.:eek:0 -
