Hi
Well done itssnowtime you have done so well to pay off 25k in 2 years thats amazing how did you do it well done
Lisa
Sorry not been on the thread for a little while!
Fortunately I have a good job which enables me to throw a good chunk of money at the debt each month - I do keep doing all the challenges but so far I've managed to spend the money instead of sending it to my debt!
I think the best thing was facing up to it - understanding why it's there and then being really focused on reducing it! I also have a part time business which helps and now I understand money better than ever before - I've stopped treating the business as a hobby and took a real serious approach to it.
It takes hard work, commitment and determination - but you'll get there in the end. Best thing I did was track it - I have a spreadsheet which shows when things should be paid off etc.. and that's a great thing to have.
Good luck all...0 -
Wo some off you are doing so so well you are all inspiring me i am on a dmp but with a fee aying company am now considering going with payplan that way every penny can go off the debts thanks so much everyone for inspiring me and well dont on getting those debts down you should all be really proud talking about how much you have paid off and at where you are at now.
Lisa
I'd definitely suggest you go with a 'free' company - payplan, CCCS or CAB so that everything you are paying towards your debt is reducing your debt.

My debts are seperate from hubby but we help each other out when we can. My debts are at just over £32K from £46 and snowball says Dec 2013 but like everyone else I want to get that lower!
Its the rising costs of living that frighten me!
1 stepIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome!0 -
Hi
Our debts are just under £10k at the minute - at their highest they were over £17k in September 2007
The £10k is over 3 loans, the first is ending in 2009, the other 2 in 2010, the last is August 2010. I have looked into paying them off early, but the charges for early repayment are ridiculous, so we're paying into a high interest savings account instead to cover the payments.
This thread is reall good - it helps to feel like I'm not the only one - thanks*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
£10025. This doesn't include what I owe my Parents, Studen Loan or my Mortgage. But it's enough to start with.
DFD is currently July 2016! Ouch. Hopefully this will change as I get on top of things and can afford to pay more on my DMP.

Afternoon all,
I registered on this site a couple days ago and this is my first post.
My current debt is £12,440, that is on 1 mail order catalogue with a huge credit limit maxed out, 1 credit card maxed out, a £500 overdraft and an old Student Loan that I had deferred for a few years.
I've calculated my debt-free date (using the snowball debt calculator) as December 2010, which made me gasp when I first saw it, until I thought about it properly it's only 2.5 years away.. yay!! V excited about being debt free and loving this site so much. Picking up lots of great tips, especially about reducing the food shopping bill, which for some reason even though it's just me and my 5 year old son, is horrendous!
Hoooray for MSE0 -

See Signature below... hope to have it paid off by April 2010 when the fixed loan finishes... applied for a DMP with CCCS but they quoted 6 years... rather overpay and live on beans on toast than be stuck with it for that long!
CA xProud to have dealt with with my debts
