  • I use most things, esp the sandwich toaster. We usually have toasted cheese n bean toasties for Saturday lunch. Do have a deep fat fryer which has been sitting in the cupboard unused for a couple of years now. Keep meaning to dig it out and use it but would feel guilty using it too much as it is so unhealthy, but can't justify the amount of oil it takes to fill it up and only use once a month, only to find that the oil has gone a bit manky and has to be chucked!

our big expensive juicer -which was a present for DH

makes great juice but it's such a pain to clean that we rarely bother to use it. shame as it takes up lots of space.

breadmaker will be going soon - now I've mastered making bread and pizza dough by hand
    weaving through the chaos...

I bought a panny a few months ago, then discovered artisan's bread so the panny now languishes at the back of a cupboard along with my george Foreman and a very expansive expresso maker

I have a George Foreman type grill thing that just doesn't get used that i'd be happy to swop with a different "back-of-the-cupboard" gadget if there's anyone in the berkshire area that wants it!

Things out on my worktop which get used the most are kettle, toaster, breadmaker and microwave.

Stick blender, liquidiser and hand mixer get used reasonably often,George Foreman not quite so much.

Languishing in the back of a cupboard is a juicer which was such a faff to clean that I don't use it any more even though it made lovely juice.I had an electric steamer once, but only used it a couple of times and then gave it to my DD.

I would love one of those really expensive espresso/cappuchino machines, but I don't have the space on my worktop for it....and can't afford one anyway :rotfl:

Another thing I want is a Remoska,I haven't got the space for that either, but I really want one and I know I would use it.

My MR breadmaker, which is going to a new freecycle home tomorrow! I have tried and tried with it, but only really like the dough programmes. I can do dough by hand almost as easily, and it takes up such a lot of space. I have found that my small GF grill thing doubles as a toasted sandwich thingy and panini press quite well, which is good as I like versatile things. I think the most useful gadget I have though is a stick blender that cost about £10. It often saves getting the Magimix all mucky and having to clean all its bits! It is easy to just run the detachable part of the stick blender under the tap or swish in the washing up bowl after use (I am a soup fiend).
I do love my dishwasher and washing machine, but confess that I have never, ever owned a tumble drier. People think that is really weird, but what is wrong with a clothes line, radiator or airer - and all that electricity! And yes, I have brought up 3 kids without one!
  • Someone bought me an electric steamer - it has never been out of the box!
I think I will recycle it as a Christmas Pressie

I've got an electric steamer too, but I prefer to use my late mums old fashioned steamer, wouldn't be without it, great for vegetables.
Also got a deep fat fryer which hasn't been used for ages which I suppose I could get rid of ! and I've just binned a food mixer which I was using to knead bread and got a horrible burning smell.

Things I wouldn't be without are - kettle, filter coffee machine, microwave and iron.
  • I bought an icing syringe for decorating cupcakes... and then I discovered a much cheaper and cleaner method of doing fancy designs (a ziplock bag, some scotch tape, and a pair of scissors!) - so the syringe and nozzles don't do much now.

Also my grater gets much less use than it should do, after discovering the miracle of pre-grated cheese, much less messy (and terribly un-OS!)
