never thought of this, will give it a try0 -
The gadgets that get used are the stick blender and the small electric chopper (like a tiny food processor). I don't use the smoothie maker. We don't have room for any other gadgets as we don't have much bench space. In NZ, I had a foreman grill which I used a lot until we got a new cooker that didn't have a timer and then I couldn't use it any more because its own timer didn't work, I used the slow cooker for a month, stopped, and then for another month a year or so again. The breadmaker was rubbish. The food processor was only used several times a year, which is why I now have two separate but small things to do most of the same things. I've had various coffee machines over the years, never used.
I'd like an ice cream maker, a new slow cooker and a good breadmaker but there just isn't any room to keep them out and so they probably wouldn't be used.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

Howcome everytime I buy a teapot it turns out to be a 'dribbler'. For the life of me I cant find one that works properly!0 -
Can I put my hands up and say my slow cooker is gathering dust in the cellar and gets used about twice a year. I find food gets a funny flavour from it, especially onions. I try and fry them off before adding them to the SC but I can still taste the funny taste from them.
Also, my ice cream maker. I have one of those ones that does a Mr Whippy style serviing thing, which means that loads of the ice cream gets sucked up some funny chamber and I can't get it out. It makes it a real faff to clean. I want a new plain and simple one, as I love the taste of HM sorbet and ice cream.0 -

Have you tried one of the original Brown Betty pots? Never had a bad one yet but OH doesn't like it because 'the tea comes out too fast'
Gadgets consigned to the graveyard in our house have been:
Breadmaker (Bread was carp)
Food processor (too clunky, don't have the space)
Aerolatte whisk (Great for about 10 minutes until the batteries ran out)
Senseo (Even with the Ecopod refillable things, too expensive)
Coffee machine (Used very rarely)
Sandwich toaster (too much faff)
I do love coffee but for the occasions we drink it I decided to just buy a good cafetiere and a small stove-top espresso jug instead.
I really want a Kitchen Aid mixer but can't justify the cost of it for the amount of baking that I actually do :eek:0 -
Least used gadget it my sandwich toaster - once again I made the mistake of getting a cheapie one! Difficult to find bread to fit the 'sandwich area'; the two sandwich areas are too close together to make two sandwiches at the same time; doesn't appear to 'seal' the sandwiches properly and the fillings run out onto the plates ! Recently I just 'had to have' a food mixer, which has only been used twice
- though I'm certain that my old mixer (complete with large pyrex bowl/stand/turntable/blender) is still around somewhere (probably still in a box somewhere from when we moved).

Bought a coffee pot in Germany in the 60s which came with a drip catcher. It was a small piece of foam on elastic which fitted over the spout and then a hook fitted round the handle. It also had a pretty plastic butterfly in the middle. Didn't stop the pot from dribbling but it caught the drips!0 -
3 tier steamer - I just don't like the taste of steamed food!
Think the slow cooker may be a seasonal thing - too warm for stews at the minute.
Now, if there's anyone in West Yorkshire who wants to get rid of a george foreman type grill, I'll be more than happy to take it / swap for the steamer...."She who asks is a fool once. She who never asks is a fool forever"
I'm a fool quite often0
