Unused kitchen gadgets

I think one of the biggest problems with gadgets is having the room for them to live on the work-top so they're easily accessible. My breadmaker and slowcooker currently live in my bedroom (which leads off from the kitchen anyway) otherwise I don't think I'd use them as much as I do if I had to keep dragging them out of their boxes and find room to set them up in the kitchen.
Stuff I've bought this year like my GF grill, yoghurt maker, hand mixer and stick blender come chopper thingy (replacement for my old stick blender that stopped working a few mths ago) sit in their boxes on top of the fridge-freezer and although the smaller stuff gets used as needed I find I hardly use the grill as it's a hassle getting it down, as well as being huge so finding space for it can be challenging at times, and much quicker to use the griddle pan
I have a 3-tier electric steamer which is shoved in the cupboard and never sees the light of day now as my new pan set also has a triple steam set, which I use far more often. The sandwich toaster is used sporadically but usually sits gathering dust on top of the cupboards LOL!
The only things that live on the worktop are kettle, toaster and microwave, all of which are used daily"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I use my breadmaker daily - my food processor gets used about 4 times a week for pastry or grating...never use the blender attachment tho.
The george forman grill gets used about twice a month - normally for bacon sarnies.
We bought a "quasalada" maker (sp??) basically a sandwhich toaster but round and takes tortilla wraps....toasts and seals into wedge shapes...we add ham and cheese and sliced toms....yum. When we got that you got the "fajhita sizzler" free....basically a flat grill with a hot plate attached to the side....I didn't think it would ever get used but as it was free we took it anyway.......used it once...wasn't worth the hassle so flogged it at the boot fair we did - I thought we'd get about £3 for it...Hubby managed to get someone to pay £10!!! Which was the price we'd paid for the 2 things together so ...sort of free?
Microwave doesn't get used as much as it should, stick blender gave up the ghost and i've not bothered to replace it....Use my mixer quite a bit - only a cheapie from asda but does what i need.
I always remember having an electric carving knife in the cupboard, in it's box, when i lived at home -- got used to carve the turkey on xmas day....what a complete waste of time that was!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Any more disasters and it may well come to that
Breadmakers must be male musn't they?
You never know quite what they are up to, they don't do wot they are supposed to, they make a lot of noise, keep stopping and starting, you're never quite sure when they have finished, and they are just sooo damned infuriating! But, just occasionally they surprise you with something nice♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0 -
I use most of my gadgets either daily or at least a few times a week. On my worktops I have a kettle, toaster, BM, microwave, stick blender and leccy can opener (Mr TM's) All used lots. My GF grill is used fairly often as WAS my 3 tier leccy steamer - until Mr TM dropped it last night and smashed the base. I've kept the baskets cos I like the Tefal steamers and if I get the same sized one, I can use them - I know how expensive replacement baskets and lids are
My Kenwood Chef gets used more now I'm OS, but I've had it 20+ years and it was a pressie. Don't use the blender much though. I have a leccy carving knife (came free with the BM) but having had one before, I can't see me using it - useless. Have a food slicer which I use when I boil ham, but I use a knife for the bread.0 -
Are those food slicers any good? I toyed with the idea of getting one some time ago, mainly for cutting bread (in even slices!) but would also like it to be capable of slicing meat too, preferably as thin as possible! I wasn't convinced the one they had in Argos would be up to the job but I don't want to spend a lot of money on one either"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
