Can anyone recommend an insurance that, as well as the usual European clauses, covers cruises as well. Some specifically don't and some just don't say.
    Nick

We have cruised for many years and have never come across an insurance company that doesn't cover cruises. Why wouldn't they? Do they give a reason? After all, it's just a form of travel!

Agreed. I have just bought a worldwide annual policy with pre existing conditions covered as long as they have been stable for 12 months. Excellent service, so OP NOT spam!

All because you have used them does not mean it isn't spam ... and £68 is not a particularly good quote!
    Gone ... or have I?

if it was for 12 months and with pre-existing conditions covered, I would say £68 is a bargain!

    HI
many thanks to martin for the travel insurance advice.
On recommendation i went to moneysupermarket.com and had a link for a company called karmain insurance for people with pre med conditions, fantastic price at 27.39!!!!!!!!
a lot of other sites quoted a lot higher. I would like to advise people to not bother trying free spirit either direct or through age concern/help the aged as the price quoted for stable pre existing med conditions was at 452!!!!!

I'm confused re the types of insurance.

I'm off to the States for 2 weeks in August, then to Jamaica for 38 days in December/January :j . I've tried to calculate whether it's cheaper to buy one worldwide and one longstay (separate policies), or one longstay which would cover both trips.

Is there a difference between longstay and backpacker insurance? I'm truly confused as I thought it would be a 10 minute online policy purchase jobby and it appears it's going to take me hours of trawling through the various companies, jotting down notes on a very large pad

At the moment, I'm thinking I might have to purchase a worldwide for the USA and a separate policy for Jamaica. I'll report back later.

Does anybody have a view about taking travel insurance without bothering with a pre existing condition.

My pre existing condition is hypertension (high blood pressure), which was only picked up because I went to a 'well man clinic'. The fact is that most people my age (60) have this but have never been diagnosed. Therefore, I am less of a risk because my hypertension is controlled and is now normal. What risks do I take if I decide not to include it in my policy?

The particularly annoying thing is that whereas I am asked to pay more for travel insurance, when I asked for an enhanced payment on my private pension, I was told that my hypertension was not considered an added risk.

Am currently shopping around for decent travel insurance for as cheap as poss.. my OH seems to think hes covered thru his bank so am just looking for me and my 4 year old, for our holiday next May, to Ibiza.

Looked on moneysupermarket.com, best quote was £11.90 from Direct Travel Insurance, has anyone used these before??
I tried confused.com but because I hadnt made a travel insurance claim in the last 3 yrs I was classed as 'special circumstances' and bought up a site, think it was called gotravel that quoted £11 but didnt tell me what cover included..

Just wondered what your thoughts were..
