My Panasonic 253 arrived yesterday from Currys, I made a spiced fruit loaf and it was truthfully "out of this world". Thanks to all the posters here who gave me the courage to spend that extra as the difference between the Panasonic and my old cheapie Morphy Richards is unbeleivable!!
Must dash, have to put another bread on as the 2 of us ate the full loaf in one go last night (I made the large size). I suppose I will be the large size if I carry on :-)0 -
Glad you like it, cruisemad. I can't wait for mine!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I got my breadmaker book "One hundred bread machine recipes" by Vicki Smallwood from one of those cheapy bookshops for £2.99. The name of the shop escapes me though. I think it's something like Bookends. Ours is at the Lakeside village formally known as the Outlet Shopping Centre in Doncaster.
I have used the receipes for soft baps, croissants (they were a disaster cos the butter kept melting and sticking!) pizza dough, pitta bread. All have turned out fine. I am slowly working my way through the book and can't wait to try the potato and onion bread, the cheese and bacon bread, blue cheese bread....Ok starving now
As regards an earlier comment on the bread being too sweet, I have adjusted the receipes to taste. It's all practise and getting used to the machine.
I got a Morphy Richards fast bake for half price (it's not what you know it who...;)) 2 months ago and not a day goes by that it's not used. Best thing I've ever bought!0 -

Morphy Richard breadmaker is best used just to the dough stage, then finish the second kneading yourself The Panasonic gets the best recomendation. You cannot use fresh yeast in a machine, pity because Tesco give it free if you ask at the fresh bread counter.0

I am SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous of people who are getting the panansonic.
My MR one is only 5 months old but gets used every day.
Now I know that I can and will use a breadmaker, I am conditioning DH to the idea that when the MR one conks out I might replace it with a good deal on the panasonic.
How long does the MR one live???"This site is addictive!"
