Ginger i got my 1899 email as usual!

Also quick question, is it 3 month that i have to stay with BT (New installation) untill i can change tp Primus CPS?

    Cheers
  • We've been a 18866 user for local and long distance calls for about two years now. I have family and friends in North America and Europe and my husband travels for business. 18866 has been a life saver when it comes to cheap phone calls in this house. We've not had a bill oer £4. In fact, the average is £2.50. You try to get that with any of the usual suppliers. I don't care if the connection fee has gone up. The per/min rates are unbeatable!

Er........ actually, at 2p/minute to call the USA, 18866 is twice as expensive as 1899 and four times more expensive than 18185 (which, apart from the 1p cheaper [4p instead of 5p] connection fee, only charges ½p/minute to call Canadian and US landlines and mobiles).

    See the MSE International Callchecker.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Are they? Thanks for the tip!
  • some quick advice.

On NTL phone [+BB] but dont get weekends and evening calls free. Is it worth spending £3-4 per month more to include this and take out the 18185 service; or should leave it and just sign up and see how it goes?

Overall is the 18185 service good/recommended [as last bill had £40+ worth of calls most under 50p] ??

As far as Evening and Weekend Calls are concerned you would probaly be better off signing up for this http://www.phone.coop/residential/telephone/homeuser.html

just 4.7p a call. They will provide access to cable customers via an 0800 Freephone Number.
  • thanks for the link, but have paid ntl £3 per month extra for unlimted evenings and weekends. just gotta find a suitable provider for the daytimes now

    for example

a 1hr30min landline call cost nearly £3 on ntl and would of halved if i used one of the providers listed [18185].

any suggestions for cheap/free daytime calls??
