My idea of heaven. I'm green with envy, the view is fab."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0

do you like ironing?:rotfl: thanks for all the positive comments, everything is doing well so far, apart from my tumblin toms (inside) i dont think they're getting enough sun? other cherry tom plants doing good, and i even planted some pepper seeds (from a pepper i was using to make a lasagne) and they've all sprouted and are doing well (well they are only about 1 inch high!):D repotted lettuce seedlings and stuck them outside and they're still alive...phew its trail and error but so far so good!totally a tog!:D0 -
wow fantastic! you have everything! and so neat too, how often do you spend looking after your plot in an average week? and whats the tastiest thing you've ever grown?totally a tog!:D0 -
Thank you.
Well I work 50-60hr weeks so my gardening day often starts at 6:30, I'll spend 1/2hr watering and weeding before going to work and an hour when I get home. On days off in and amongst the normal stuff of life I'll spend all day in the garden tinkering.
I need my patch to be ordered to make it productive, I have a small part of the garden, the rest is my wifes for flowers, plants and shrubs.
As regulars for perfect taste it's the good old tomato straight from the plant, I have sixteen indoors, seven outdoors made up of six varieties.
Cape gooseberries (non this year) have to be one of the best crops ever, sweet, tasty desert fruit and prolific too, they are an aquired taste though.
My wifes garden is non too shabby and theres a little black friend who helps out by laying out just where you want to walk.

I've always grown herbs in baskets on the wall in my garden (off the ground so our dear puss doesn't wee on them!) and last year tried tomatoes as well. This year I've added garlic to the list. I was worried that the novelty would wear off and I didn't want to run before I could walk. The plan is to add an extra crop each year, so next year I'm going to try potatoes as well.
Did you put the tomatoes in a hanging basket? I'm trying toms as my first thing to grow. I'm fairly rubbish and kill most things so I'm trying really hard with these.
I love everyone's photos! Its great to see what can be done0 -
well done MrJ, even your bird table looks stunning! i love the big fern things (are they some kind of palm?) i like to hear about peoples experience and what got them into gardening etc, i really think growing your own stuff is going to become more and more popular and its something all the family can get involved in too. with all the veg thats being grown in this thread we could run our own moneysavingexpert veg shop:D :beer:totally a tog!:D0
